 Spiritual Rejection

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.(Isaiah 53:1-3)

Today’s Morsel: The writings of Isaiah the prophet are probably the most insightful book as to who Jesus was than any of the other books in the Bible. Almost everything that Jesus did while on earth that is recorded in the gospels can be traced back to the book of Isaiah. When we read the gospel of the apostles, we can see that in the weeks leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion, he was despised and rejected by men. The religious leaders went out of their way to find fault with Him so they could have reason to put Him to death. Every parable that He taught and every place He went, He was scrutinized which fulfilled the prophet's writings. The report has not changed. There are still those today that reject spiritual truth and the ways of God. And Jesus gave us warning when He said, For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?(Luke 23:31) If the true vine which can give life is cut down, then there is no hope for the dry vine.

Sing: Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe; sin had left its stain, He washed it white as snow.

Thought For Today: The report is still the same.
