Gaining Experience

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” (Romans 5:1-5)

Today’s Morsel: Do you feel that the whole world is caving in on you? Do you feel like every time you think that there is light at the end of the tunnel, you find another train filled with problems coming your way? Do you feel like that cat hanging out on the end of the limb, and you know that if you move too much the limb may break? Paul told the church at Rome that we glory in tribulation. Why is that?  Because he said that knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope. You see, these things are designed to help us gain experience in our walk with God. If you never learn how to endure temptations, hardships, pain, and rejection, you will find yourself struggling in your walk with God and others. Again, Paul asked the church at Rome, and it is also written for you and me, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35-39) To gain experience and be able to rejoice always, you may sometimes endure painful or difficult experiences that are useful in teaching you about life. And we call these things being in the school of hard knocks.  So, the next time you feel as Jacob, when he said that all these things are against me (Genesis 42:36) just chalk it up as you are gaining experience.

Sing: He gives strength to me, as I worship Him, as my heart is filled with praise.   Jesus breaks the bands, when I raise my hands, He gives glorious victory.
