Don’t Forsake That Which Can Make You Better
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.” (Proverbs 4:7-9)
Today’s Morsel: One of the greatest values of the word of God other than our salvation is that it makes us better. The word of God is a character book. When we read and follow it, it will cause us to be strong and to have good success (Joshua 1:7-9). The problem with the world today, is not that people in themselves are mean and evil, it is that they do not have wisdom within themselves to understand who they are and how they are to live. Solomon states, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.” Wisdom will honor you if you embrace her. But if you reject her, she says “I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.” (Proverbs 1:26-27). Don’t reject wisdom. Godly wisdom is what you need to navigate through this life.
