Godliness With Contentment
“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” (1 Timothy 6:6-8)
Today’s Morsel: Novelist David F. Wallace said, “If you worship money, you will never have enough.” “If you worship your body and beauty, you will always see yourself as ugly.” “If you worship intellect, you will always see yourself as stupid.” Maybe this is why some folks are having trouble with themselves. They are not content with who they are and what they already have. Contentment means the acceptance of things as they are, knowing that our God knows all things and what is good for us. Contentment springs out of our understanding and relationship with God. When our relationship and understanding of God is cemented, we know that nothing can separate us from Him. As Jesus said, you don’t need worry about what you shall eat and wear. He already knows that we have need of those things. So, all we need to do is just seek first the Kingdom of God, which is the Holy Ghost, and the things we need will be added. And that even includes our contentment with what we have and who we are. But if the Holy Ghost isn’t present and stirred up daily, discontentment will control you.
Sing: I have found His grace is all complete, He supplies my every need; While I sit and learn at Jesus feet, I am free, yes, free indeed.
It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, full of glory, full of glory; It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, oh the half has never yet been told.
Thought For Today: “For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” (1 Timothy 6:7)
