Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 January 29

 Let Go

“A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;” (Ecclesiastes 3:6)

Today’s Morsel: Is it time for you to let go of something in your life that you have trusted for satisfaction? Some folks hate to lose. There are folks who go into depression because their sport teams lose a game. They become heartbroken if their friends move to a new location. The woman who lost her coin, swept until she had found it. Some people have a hard time with letting go and loss. The disciples of Jesus were even depressed after Jesus’ death. Scripture says, “And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.” (Luke 24:14-21) We must be willing to let go, or it can put us in a state of depression. If we know, and we should, that all things do work together for good to them that love God, we should be willing to let go. Remember, your number one relationship, priority, and desire is Jesus. Everything and everyone else are second.  Keep Him first and He will see you through every loss.

Sing: Though none go with me, still I will follow. Though none go with me, still I will follow. Though none go with me, still I will follow, no turning back, no turning, back.

Thought For Today: Is it time for you to let go of anything in your life that you have trusted for satisfaction?
