Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 January 25

There Is No Crash Course That You Can Take for Character

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.” (Ephesians 5:1-4)

Today’s Morsel: Some folks thinks that the epistles are letters written to sinners. But they are not. They are letters written to saints. The Epistles are letters of character for saints to obey and follow. You see, we are to be Christ’s witnesses in the earth, and that begins with our character. But if we do not read our Bibles, we will be void of character in our life and represent Satan more than Jesus. The same way that the book of Proverbs is designed to teach us wisdom, the Epistles are designed to teach us character. The Epistles are written to help us understand what we must be, know, and do as Christians. If you want to know how to build your character, Paul said, “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16) Remember, every day you are building your character by what you say and do and the places you go. You can compromise on a lot of things, but your character had better not be one of them or you may never get it back.

Sing: Well, I’ve been changed, I am newborn now, all my life, have been rearranged. What a difference it made since the Lord came to stay; in my heart, oh yes, I’ve been changed.

Thought For Today: “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” (James 3:2)
