Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 January 18

When Heaven Meets Hell at The Weak Point

“Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.”

(Matthew 4:1-11)

Today’s Morsel: One of the things that you must learn and know is that Satan will not attack you or tempt you when you are strong and in your right mind. He’s going to do it when you are tired, weak, and weary. Scripture says that Jesus had fasted forty days and forty nights, and that He was afterward hungered.  And so, Satan thought that he would play upon His weakness.  But what he failed to realize was, that even though Jesus was hungry, He still had power to defeat his chief enemy. You see, Satan observes you and he does his very best to catch you at a moment of weakness so he can play on your mind to pull you down. But you must realize that Jesus has given you power to tread over him. Remember, you belong to God.  You are not your own, you have been brought with a price. You must keep the Word of God in your heart and be ready for Satan when he comes. As he will come. And often his coming is in your moment of weakness. So, when you meet hell at your weak point, just make sure you know what is in the Word of God, that it is hidden in your heart, and then Satan will leave you alone.

Sing: I command you Satan in the name of the Lord, to pick up your weapons and flee. For God has given me authority to walk all over thee.

Thought For Today:  Standing on and knowing the truth will defeat your enemy every time.
