I Am A Child of God
“He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:11-12)
Today’s Morsel: One of the greatest values of the new birth is that it makes us sons and daughters of God. Paul states: “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26) He also told the church at Rome, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” (Romans 8:14-17) When God puts His spirit in us, it brings us into His family. I hear people say that folks commit suicide because they are lonely, depressed, and saddened, and it is because they have no friends or anyone to talk to. I don’t understand that because God’s family is a very big family. Scripture tells us that a man that would have friends must show himself friendly and that there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. I have come to realize, since my new birth experience, that I have a lot of brothers and sisters of all races, colors, nationalities, and cultures. The new birth experience is for the making of sons and daughters in the kingdom and family of God. I wonder if we were to check with ancestor.com if they could link us back to our spiritual roots. Reach out and find your family connections in the family of God. You will be glad you did. We need each other.
Sing: You’re my brother, you’re my sister, so take me by the hand, together we will work until He comes. There’s no foe that can defeat us, when we’re walking side by side; as long as there is love, we can stand.
Thought For Today: Have you considered seeking for some of your brothers and sisters today?
