Strange Trials
“Beloved, think it
not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some
strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of
Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad
also with exceeding joy.” (1 Peter 4:12-13)
Today’s Morsel: How would you define
a strange trial? Well, we know that the word ‘Strange’ means
something that is unusual or surprising in a way that
is unsettling or hard to understand. With that thought in mind, how would
you define a strange trial? Have you been, or know of someone, who has been
diagnosed with an illness that doctors are confused about and can’t find an
answer to? That’s a strange trial. If someone you know and are friends with
attacks you because you do not support them in their sin and wrongdoing, that
can be seen as a strange trial. If your son or daughter comes home and tells
you that they are in love with a person of the same sex, that is a strange
trial. In the world in which we now live, Peter cautions us to not think it
strange concerning the fiery trials which are to try us, as though some strange
thing happens to us. Strange trails usually hurt more because they come from
loved ones and friends and are not from the enemy of our soul. We must learn to
endure hardness as a good soldier for Christ. Be prepared, strange
trials will come.
Sing: He gives strength to me, as I worship
Him, as my heart is filled with praise. Jesus breaks the bands, when I
raise my hands, He gives glorious victory.
Thought For Today: “That the trial of
your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be
tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the
appearing of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:7)
