In The Garden
“And
the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the LORD God
planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to
the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,
and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” (Genesis 2:7-9)
Today’s Morsel: I often wonder what it must have been like for
Adam and Eve in the garden. The temperature must have been just right as they
didn’t need to wear any clothing. The
mosquitoes didn’t even bite them. There was every kind of tree and bush for their food. The
rivers were clean for them to drink water. There was no fear of the animals or anything else in
the garden. And to top it off, they had communion with God in the cool of the
day. What an ideal place to live. And they only had one stipulation, you can’t eat from the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil. But Adam and Eve blew it. And they were evicted from their perfect
home. Why do we think that we are missing out on something when God’s Word tells us not to do certain things? Why do we think
that we must try it, taste it, feel it, or be a part of it? Paul told the church
at Corinth: “Know
ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not
deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate,
nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor
drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) If you
have never done any of these things, don’t think that you are missing out on
anything. I can tell you as well as others that it will only cause you trouble
and get you evicted from your heavenly home. Heed the warnings given and
be obedient to the word of God.
Sing: I
come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses, and the voice I
hear falling on my ear, the Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me, and
He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own, and the joy we share as we
tarry there, none other has ever known.
Thought For Today: “Not
that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am,
therewith to be content.” (Philippians 4:11)
