God’s Wisdom
“But unto them which
are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of
God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God
is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise
men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath
chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath
chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen,
yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no
flesh should glory in his presence.” (1 Corinthians 1:24-29)
Today’s Morsel: Trying to figure God
out can be very confusing. God’s ways and thoughts aren’t the same as ours. So
stop thinking that you can figure Him out. The weatherman can tell you
that it’s going to rain, and yet the sun can shine all day without a drop of
rain. This is one of the reasons, I believe, why scripture tells us that we
must walk by faith and not by sight. We must take God’s word at face value.
Solomon even tells us not to lean unto our own understanding, but to just
acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths. Paul states that God has chosen
the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. Scientists, astrologists,
technologists, and prognosticators are all trying to figure out where man came
from, and what is out there in outer space. But they could really save a lot of
money in all this research if they would just read their Bibles. As the Lord
asked Job: “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the
earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof,
if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the
foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the cornerstone thereof; When the
morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake
forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?” (Job 38:4-8) Only
God knows all things as He is the wisdom of God and the power of God. And He is
not about to share his glory with another. There are some things that we
must simply accept by faith.
Sing: Great is the Lord, and greatly
to be praised, in the city of our God, in the mountains of His Holiness.
Beautiful situations, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion on the side of
the north, the city of the great king.
Thought For Today: The just must live
by faith
