Stop Being Ashamed of Being A Christian
“And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the
name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people
shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and
that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be
ashamed.”
(Joel 2:26-27)
Today’s Morsel: For
some unknown reason, many so-called Christians are ashamed to state that they
are Christians, or to let their lifestyle reflect that they are Christians in public. You should not be ashamed of being a
Christian by dressing modestly
or showing a Chrisitan decorum in public. As a matter of fact, Paul told Timothy: “In like manner also, that women
adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with
broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women
professing godliness) with good works.” (1 Timothy 2:9-10) Notice, adorn
themselves with modest apparel, and to have honor and respect for themselves, and to
be with sound mindedness and self-control. There is nothing to be
ashamed about. And He also instructed Titus: “Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. In all
things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness,
gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of
the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.” (Titus 2:6-8) In other words, let
your lifestyle be a reflection of Who you belong to and who you are. “But whosoever shall deny me, Jesus
said, before men, him will I also deny before
my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 10:33) Stop being ashamed to be
called a Christian, you may be the only Jesus people ever see.
Sing: This little light of mine, I’m
gonna let it shine; This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine; This
little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let
it shine.
Thought For Today: Don’t
let others shame you for being a Christian.
