Lacking Knowledge
“My people are
destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will
also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast
forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea 4:6)
Today’s Morsel: They say that the worst kind of
destruction is self-destruction. The destruction of one’s own self. How does
this happen? Shouldn’t we know who we are and what we are doing? Does not
scripture tell us: “Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed (Proverbs
13:13), and that he that being often reproved shall be destroyed and that
without remedy (Proverbs 29:1)? So why are people destroying themselves? Hosea,
whose name means salvation, says it is due to a lack of knowledge. When people
reject knowledge, they are rejecting God. And when you reject God, He will
reject you and you are heading for destruction. For without me you can do
nothing, Jesus said (John 15:5). If we believe that every word in Webster's
Dictionary and their meaning is true, and what people teach in school is true,
then why can’t we believe that the Bible is true? Man wrote all the other books
in the world and man believed them, yet man wrote the Bible but few believe it.
But the difference Peter says is, “That no prophecy of the scripture is of any
private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of
man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter
1:20-21). One of the reasons King Solomon states for writing the book of
Proverbs was: “To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and
discretion.” (Proverbs 1:4) Solomon didn’t want us to self-destruct. If
you desire not to self-destruct, then read the book of Proverbs and apply what
you read to your life.
Sing: Just a closer walk with Thee, grant it
Jesus is my plea. Daily walking close to Thee, let it be, dear Lord, let
it be.
Thought For Today: “The fear of the
LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
(Proverbs 1:7)
