Three Days
“Now the LORD had
prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the
fish three days and three nights.”
(Jonah 1:17)
Today’s
Morsel: It amazes me when I hear ministers say that God prepared a
huge fish that swallowed up Jonah. Why don’t they just say a whale? That’s what
Jesus said it was. “For as Jonas
was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man
be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Matthew 12:40) I have come to realize that there is something special about three (3) days when it comes to scripture. “And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the
mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the
marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They
have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine
hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith
unto you, do it.” (John 2:1-5) Jesus
performed his first miracle on the third day. He told the religious leaders:
“destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said
the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear
it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.” (John 2:19-21) Here Christ signifies that He will rise again in three days. Even Paul was blinded for three
days (Acts 9:9) Jonah in the belly of the whale, the wedding at Cana, the
raising of the Temple, and Paul’s blindness, all signify that Christ would
resurrect the temple of His body from the earth, open our eyes to truth, and
provide New Wine (The Holy Ghost) to all who accepts His invitation to the
marriage supper of the Lamb.
Sing: Go ahead, drive the nails in my hand;
laugh at me where you stand. Go ahead, and say it isn’t me; the day will
come when you will see! ‘Cause I’ll rise again, Ain’t no power on earth can tie
me down. Yes, I’ll rise again, death can’t keep me in the ground.
Thought For Today: You can remain
depressed, down and out, for two days, but on the third day you must rise.
