Exalting God
“Exalt
the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.” (Psalms 99:9)
Today’s Morsel: The
psalmist calls our remembrance to those who worshipped God before us as an
example. He states: “Exalt
ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call upon his
name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.” (Psalms 99:5-6) It’s one thing to praise
God, it is another to worship Him. Praise is thanking God for what He has done
for you, while worship is acknowledging Him for who He is. This is one of the
reasons why it is of utmost importance that when we come to church we know who
Jesus Christ is. God manifested in flesh (Matthew 1:21, John 1:1,14, 1 Timothy
3:16, Colossians 2:8-9, 1 John 5:20). Jesus told the woman at the well in John
4, “Ye worship ye know
not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour
cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in
spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a
Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:22-24) Do you know the One
you worship? Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and
forever.
Sing: Come,
now is the time to worship, come, now is the time to give your heart.
Come, just as you are to worship, come, now is the time to give your life. One
day every tongue shall confess You are God, one day every knee shall bow, still
the greatest treasure remains for those who gladly seek you now. Come,
now is the time to worship, come, now is the time to give your heart.
Thought For Today: “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD,
whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” (Exodus 34:14)
