Finding Your Purpose
“At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the
brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and
saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard
for thee to kick against the pricks. And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he
said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for
I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a
witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the
which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the
Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from
darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive
forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith
that is in me.”
(Acts 26:13-18)
Today’s Morsel: Some folks will
spend their entire life never knowing for what purpose they were born. What
does God desire to do through your life? What purpose does He have for you?
Many folks are bored, filled with stress, discouraged, disheartened,
disappointed, frustrated, angry, and with low self-esteem, all because they
don’t know what their purpose in life is. People are sitting in jobs and even
in the church bored out of their minds because they don’t know their
purpose. Paul related to King Agrippa that God had appeared to him to
show him his purpose. Which was to make him
a minister and a witness both to the Jews and the
gentile, and to open their eyes,
and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God,
that they may receive forgiveness of sins. What a wonderful purpose. Maybe this
is the reason why Paul thought himself happy. He now knew his purpose in life.
For twenty-eight years, I thought my purpose was to be a professional soldier
for the U.S. Military. But now, I know what my real purpose in life is. And
that is to know Him and to make Him known. What’s your purpose?
Sing: Jesus is all the world to me, my life,
my joy, my all; He is my strength from day to day, without Him I would
fall. When I am sad, to Him I go, no other one can cheer me so; when I am
sad, He makes me glad, He’s my friend.
Thought For Today: “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the
beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might
destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
