The Road To Greatness
“But he that is
greatest among you shall be your servant.”
(Matthew 23:11)
Today’s Morsel: I often wonder if so
many of the things that black Americans accomplished were because they were
servants. Here are just a few:
George Crum - The Potato Chip
Garrett Morgan - The Protective Mask
Philip Downing - The Protect Mailbox
Charles Drew - Blood Bank
Garrett Morgan - Traffic Light
George Washington Carver - Peanut Butter
Andrew Miles - The Electric Elevator Doors
Mark Dean - Color IBM PC Monitors
George Sampson - Clothes Dryer
John Burr - Lawn Mower
Thomas Elkins - Modern Toilets
Alice Parker - Heating Furnace
There are many items that are recorded as being
created by black Americans. Jesus said, “But he that is greatest among you
shall be your servant.” Servants learn things that other folk may never learn.
Usually, your best leaders are those who rise from the bottom to the top that were
servants. If you want to get on the road to greatness, you must learn how to be
a servant first.
Sing: Jesus use me, O’ Lord don’t refuse me,
for surely there’s a work that I can do. And even though it's humble,
Lord help my will to crumble, though the cost be great I’ll work for You.
Thought For Today: “Even as the Son of
man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a
ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28)
