The Least
“Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the
grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who
am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach
among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see
what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world
hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 3:7-9)
Today’s Morsel: When
we look at the life of the apostle Paul, Paul was considered a very educated
man. Paul had studied and knew the Jewish law and was steadfast to it. But
after his conversion, Paul saw himself as the least of the apostles of Christ.
We don’t read a lot about the other apostles' education that were chosen by
Christ, but Paul tells us about his, and yet he felt small when it came to
Christ and being called to share the gospel. You see, not until you are willing
to humble yourself before Christ are you able to grow in the knowledge and
understanding of Christ. Therefore, I believe when Jesus said that except a
grain of wheat falls in the ground and dies, it abideth alone, but if it dies
it brings forth fruit. He was giving us an example of humility. Because not
until you are willing to accept being a servant can you grow up to be a king.
Sing: To
be like Jesus, to be like Jesus, on earth I long to be like Him. All
through life’s journey from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.
Thought For Today: “No
one can grow if he does not accept his smallness” (Pope Francis)
