Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 7 March 2022

 Be Yourself

For we dare not make ourselves of the number or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

(2 Corinthians 10:12)

Today’s Morsel: In today’s world, everyone wants to be like someone else. Folks don’t seem to be content with who they are.  People get their hair done a certain way trying to emulate someone else. Young boys and girls, and not so young boys and girls, want to be someone else. Makeup, wigs, fake eyelashes, jewelry, hair coloring, body piercing, all to try and make one someone else.  They make comments such as, “I wish I was …” or, “I wish I could be them”. Why not just be yourself, everyone else is already taken. Paul said that we do not compare ourselves to others. If we do, he says, then we are not wise. God knows what He wants to do in and through your life so that you will have the expected end that He has for you. But if you keep trying to be someone else, He may have a hard time identifying who you are. Always remember, you can only see the outside of another person, not what is in their heart. So be yourself and live the life that Christ has given you and is perfecting in you.

Sing: I am a Promise! I am a possibility! I am a Promise with a capital "P"! I am a great big bundle of potentiality! And I am learning to hear God's voice, and I am trying to make the right choice; I am a Promise to be anything He wants me to be.

Thought For Today: Be yourself. Who else is better qualified?
