Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 1 March 2022

 Hopelessness

“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Today’s Morsel: I keep asking myself why it is that so many folks do not have hope when the Bible is filled with it. So many seem so hopeless these days. Paul tells us, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.(Romans 15:4); And that we have an anchor of hope for the soul that is both sure and steadfast (Hebrews 6:19). I guess if people don’t read and study their Bibles, they won’t know what they have. Our hope is not in the world. It is in Jesus Christ. If we put our trust in this world to give us hope, we are going to be of all men most miserable. But beloved, I am persuaded of better things of you. If you say that you are born-again, then you should be filled with hope and looking for that blessed hope and glorious appearance of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to soon return. Remember, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). We have a hope that this world does not give us.

Sing:  Have faith, hope, and charity, that’s the only way to live successfully. How do I know? The Bible tells me so.

Thought For Today:For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?(Romans 8:24)
