Letting Go
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the
heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to
pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to
break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time
to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather
stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A
time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A
time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A
time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. What
profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth? I have seen the
travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. He hath
made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their
heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning
to the end.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-11)
Today’s Morsel: Solomon states
that there is a time to get and a
time to lose; a time to keep and a time to cast away. Sometimes, we
must let things go. I know a lot of people who have lost loved ones, but
they refuse to let them go and move on with life. In this life, it is not
what we take up but what we give up that makes us rich. Jesus says, “Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not
in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto
them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And
he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room
where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my
barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years;
take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou
fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those
things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure
for himself, and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:15-21)
Don’t be afraid to let go or lose things. That is not what life is about.
Life is about becoming rich in Christ.
Sing: It is Jesus, Jesus, sad ones
weep no more. He will heal the brokenhearted open wide the prison
door. He is able to deliver evermore.
Thought For Today: Beware of
Covetousness!
