Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2023 December 6

Many Are Called but Few Are Chosen

“For many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14)

Today’s Morsel: I often ask folks what will take for them to go from being called by God to being chosen by God?  If you do not know, the answer is the earnest of your preparation. The disciples were first called by Jesus, but after they proved that they were prepared to carry out His instructions and will, “… he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” (Mark 16:15-20) He told them, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” (John 15:16) If you study the word of God, start teaching it to others now, God will see your earnest preparation and chose you for greater things.

Sing: Jesus use me, oh Lord don’t refuse me, for surely there’s a work that I can do.  And even though it’s humble, Lord, help my will to crumble. Though the cost be great I’ll work for You.
