Jesus The Light of The World
“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
(John 8:12)
Today’s Morsel: One of the things about light is it will get you out of darkness. Jesus told Nicodemus, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” (John 3:17-20)When you see evil, divisiveness, hate, lying, and anger in the world, it is because those folks who practice those things don’t know Jesus. I don’t care how much people stand and say that they are conservative and Christians, those just are not the traits of The Light, those are traits of darkness. Those traits origin are the very pits of hell. Peter said that Jesus is the one that takes you out of darkness, and brings you into His marvelous light. Paul even admonished, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) The gospel is light because it is Jesus. Remember, the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep until the Spirit of God showed up and moved upon the face of the waters, and God said, Let there be light and there was light (Genesis 1:1-3) Jesus is the light of the world and He has the power to get you out of darkness.
Sing: Send the light, the blessed gospel light, let it shine from shore to shore. Send the light, the blessed gospel light, let it shine forever more.
