Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2023 December 22

O’ Come All Ye Faithful

“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”

(1 Corinthians 4:2)

Today’s Morsel:  How would you rate a person’s faithfulness? Just what would you look for?  Would you look for how they hold true to their promises and vows? Would you consider their loyalty? Would you test their commitment? What about their church attendance? Just what would you look for when it comes to faithfulness? Moses told the children of Israel, “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;” (Deuteronomy 7:9) He told them that they were not just dealing with any god, they were dealing with the faithful God. The One True God that keeps His word to a thousand generations. God can’t change who He is. He’s faithful. Paul told Timothy, “It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” (2 Timothy 2:11-13) God can’t change who He is. He’s faithful. And if we say that we know Him, and walk not as He walked, we become liars and deceivers of the brethren.  We must be faithful like He is faithful.

Sing: He’s been faithful, faithful to me, looking back His love and mercy I see.   In my heart I have questioned, even failed to believe, yet He’s been faithful, faithful to me.
