Hope
“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)
Today’s Morsel: What do you do to maintain your hope in Christ and His word? With the instantaneous world in which we live, many folks are not taught the importance of having faith, hope, and charity. Hope is no more than having the endurance and stamina to wait for what you have asked for. When we ask God for things, we must realize that it’s all up to His will if He will provide them or not. Sometimes we may pray for hope, and we receive it immediately. For example, we may say, “I hope their plane isn’t delayed.” And their plane is on time. Or we may say, “I hope I can find a parking spot.” And we find a parking spot. Paul said that the scriptures were written so that we would have hope. When we can see what God did for others, we can be assured that He will do it for us, too. We just need to believe that He will. “Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.” (Hebrews 6:17-20) Don’t ever lose your hope in God.
Sing: Have faith, hope, and charity, that’s the only way to live successfully. How do I know, the Bible tells me so.
