Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2023 November 15

Faithfulness

“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”

(1 Corinthians 4:2)

Today’s Morsel: Are you faithful? If we are ever going to reach perfection in our lives, then we must learn and develop the trait of faithfulness. Scripture tells us that God is faithful. What does that mean? It means that He can be trusted, or that He is worthy of trust. He can be counted on or relied upon. When we think of faithfulness, we think of being loyal, true to ones promises and vows. Firm and unchanging in support of others. When we look at marriages, marriages are based on faithfulness, because we can’t see everything the other person does, nor can we be with them everywhere they go. So, we look to them to be loyal and dependable. One of the greatest causes to divorce is unfaithfulness. Even friendships and relationships are broken and tarnished due in part to unfaithfulness. So, what are some ways to build our faithfulness. Jesus said: “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:12) Living out the Golden Rule should cause us to be faithful. Just how do you want others to treat you? If you aren’t faithful, you will reap what you sow. John says, “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked...But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” (1 John 2:6, 27) God is faithful. So, are you walking like Him? If we walk in the spirt, Paul said, we will not fulfill the lust of our flesh. Everyone has good intentions, but where are those who will carry out those good intentions?  That is what being faithful is all about.

Sing: He’s been faithful, faithful to me; His love and mercy I see. Even in my heart, I have questioned, even failed to believe; yet He’s been faithful, faithful, to me.
