What’s In Your Blueprint?

“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:5-11)

Today’s Morsel: I asked one of my pastor friends who designed his church. He said that he had. I knew that he wanted to ask me why. But before he could, I said to him, you did a pretty good job. If you had to draw a blueprint for your house what would be in it? Would it be something that you would be proud of. I’m sure you’ve heard the story about the father who had a building company. And he left his son in charge of the construction of this one nice home. The son saw a way to save lots of money, and so he took shortcuts, bought cheap material, cheap appliances, and did not follow the blueprint. When the house was finished, the father returned and asked the son about the house and said that he would like to see it. They went to the house; the son unlocked the doors and showed his father around. The father asked him what he thought of the house. The son said that he was well pleased with it. The father handed him the keys and said, Congratulations, this is your new home. You are now the owner of a brand-new home of your making! When it comes to this temple of the Holy Ghost, that we now live in, we cannot take shortcuts in building it. It’s ours given to us by God and we had better ensure that the things that we put in it are of the best quality, because it is going to be tried by fire, Paul said. You don’t want your possessions to burn up. So, add those things that Peter commanded us and your building will never fall, nor be destroyed.

Sing: O’ yes, I’m standing on the Rock of Ages, safe, from all the storms that rages; Rich, but not of Satan’s wages; I’m standing on the Solid Rock.
