Get Out Of The Boat
“And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and
to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And
when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray:
and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the
midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the
fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when
the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a
spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them,
saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and
said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said,
Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to
go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning
to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth
his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore
didst thou doubt?”
(Matthew 14:22-31)
Today’s Morsel: The apostle
Peter gets accused of many things by the church. He is charged for
denying the Lord three times. He is accused of having a hot temper and
cutting off Malchus' ear. He is charged with having respect of persons by
Paul. He is found guilty of sleeping in the prayer meeting with
Jesus. He is blamed for going to the house of the Gentiles. And he
is blamed for being faithless walking on the water. Yet Jesus still gave
him the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Many in the church today
should be accused and charged with the same crimes, but don’t you dare tell
them that. Someone said, "Don’t ever say what you won’t do if you
have not been put to the test yet." Paul said that the Spirit is
willing but the flesh is weak. I don’t think we should accuse or blame
Peter for being faithless. At least he got out of the boat when Jesus
called him. And he tried to walk on the water to get to Him. But
there are those who accuse and blame Peter that are still sitting in the boat
when Jesus has called them over and over to come. Believe me, you
can’t walk on water sitting in the boat.
Sing: Faith can move mountains,
mountains of fear and of doubt. Faith can move mountains, so why don’t
you try your faith out.
Thought For
Today: “And Jesus
looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God:
for with God all things are possible.” (Mark 10:27)
I am a like Peter person. I find your message today to be spot on. I am surrounded by mountains in my life at this time. I know God can fix all things, but my faith is we today.
