At Calvary
“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there
they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other
on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they
do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” (Luke 23:33-34)
Today’s Morsel: It was here,
Calvary, that some believe was the place that Abraham offered Isaac as a burnt
sacrifice; and where David brought the threshing floor from Ornan. “Then
Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah,
where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had
prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.” (2 Chronicles 3:1)
Mount Mariah. Mountain of God. Just as we know that we should never
forget God, we should also never forget Calvary. For it was here that
Christ died for our sins. It was here that He gave His life that we might
live. It was here that love drew salvation's plan and the place that
grace brought it down to man. That old rugged cross is still a reminder
of the difference that love makes.
Sing: Years I spent in vanity and
pride; Caring not my Lord was crucified; knowing not it was for me He died on
Calvary.
Mercy there was great, and grace was free. Pardon
there was multiplied to me. There my burdened soul found liberty, at
Calvary.
Thought For Today: Calvary still
speaks of love.
