Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 9 August 2021

The Fear of God

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

Today’s Morsel:  Having respect for God and the things of God seems to be eroding right before our eyes.  People just do not seem to have the same love and respect for God as they once did.  It appears the church and the people of God are allowing themselves to be drawn away from God by the ways of this world through the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.  God is not some big guy just sitting on the throne getting angry at people who do not fear Him.  He is The Father that loves us and desires for us to be successful and without hurt and pain, He understands all things.  But if we do not respect Him and keep His commandments, He is not obligated to do anything for us.  "The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened." (Proverbs 10:27) It is our responsibility to reverence and respect our Father.

Sing: Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better friend, I trust him now, I will trust Him when life’s fleeting days shall end.  Beautiful life with such a friend, beautiful life that had no end; Eternal life; eternal joy, He’s my friend.

Thought For Today: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
