The Candle of The
Lord
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be
hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a
candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light
so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father
which is in heaven.” (Matthew
5:14-16)
Today’s Morsel: I have come to
realize that one of the causes of depression, anxiety, and stress, is people
are always so busy. You ask someone how they are doing, usually the first words
out of their mouth are, “Oh, I’m so busy.” I ask them, “Doing what?” And
oftentimes they cannot tell me. If we are not careful, we can go to work
and pretend to be busy to make our bosses and supervisors think that we are
working hard, not realizing that we are placing a large amount of stress and
anxiety upon us, by acting and lying. And then we go home tired because
we have acted and lied for 8 hours, and we wonder why we are not happy with our
jobs. Jesus said that you are the light of the world. But if that
light is dark, how great is the darkness. There is no need to fake
work. Just prioritize the jobs that you must do, do it to the best of
your ability, look for fun while doing them, and your boss will see the great
job that you do and will reward you openly and you will go home each day happy
about your accomplishments.
Sing: This little light of mine, I'm
gonna let it shine. This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it
shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Thought For Today: “The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the
inward parts of the belly.” (Proverbs
20:27)
