Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 6 August 2021

It Is Time To Wake Up

“Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.”
(Joel 3:9-11)

Today’s Morsel:  If there has ever been a need for mighty men in the church it is now.  Not only is the church under attack;  homes, families, school, communities, and our way of life are under attack.  The weapons we use are not bombs and guns; praise, worship, fasting and prayer by mighty men of God are the way the battle is won.  If we are going to defeat this onslaught of evil which is coming against us from hell, then we must have men who will take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and go fight against our enemies.  It is time for men to wake-up.  Now is not the time to sleep like Jonah in the bottom of the ship.  It is not time to sleep in the prayer meeting as the apostles did.  It is time to take the message of hope and salvation to the lost. “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.(Ephesians 5:14-17)  It is time to wake up, oh’ sleeper, and the Lord will give you light.

Sing:  Let us pray that grace may everywhere abound; send the light, Send the light.  And a Christ-like-Spirit everywhere be found; send the light, send the light.

Send the light, the blessed gospel light, let it shine from shore to shore!  Send the light, the blessed gospel light, let it shine for evermore.

Thought For Today:How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?(Proverbs 6:9)
