In The City Where the Lamb Is The Light

“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.” (Revelation 21:22-24)

Today’s Morsel: One of the things you will notice when God gave Moses the directions for building the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, there was no mention for a light to be placed in the Holy of Holies or the Holies of All. The reason is this was the place of the mercy seat, and here was where the presence of God descended upon.  And since God is light, there was no need to have a light placed there. When we fast forward to our new home in heaven, that new Jerusalem, John tells us, “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it.” Scripture says: “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29) Jesus is identified as the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the whole world.  Scripture also says: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12) If we say that we are saved, then we must follow Jesus and He will keep us in the light.  Again, John writes: “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5). Once we are born again of the water and the spirit, we’re no longer children of the night, we become children of the day (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

Sing: It’s in that city where the lamb is the light, in that city where there cometh no night, I’ve a mansion over there and when free from toil and care, I am going where the Lamb is the Light.

Thought For Today: In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4)
