Put On The Armor of Light
“The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” (Romans 13:12)
Today’s Morsel: When Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of God, he tells us the reason is due in part that we may be able to stand in the evil day. The armor of light is what he identifies in Ephesians 6:10-18. Truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, salvation, the word, and prayer, as these things represent Christ’s character. You see, when we are baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, we are putting on Christ (Galatians 3:26-29), and because Jesus is God manifested in flesh (1 Timothy 3:16), He is the light and in Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). Therefore, we must remove all working of darkness from our lives and be adorned with the armor of light. “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:” (Ephesians 5:8) In this dark world, every Christian ought to stand out like a sore thumb.
Sing: This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine; this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Thought For Today: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1 Peter 2:9)
