Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 August 16

Wisdom

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

Today’s Morsel: When we study the Bible, we can see that throughout its pages God wants us to be wise. The whole book of Proverbs is a book for developing and learning wisdom. Most of its writing is given to the pen of King Solomon, the man who at 8 years old sought God for wisdom to lead His people. It has been stated that we can be knowledgeable without another man’s knowledge, but we cannot be wise with another man’s wisdom. In other words, we need our own. The apostle James tells us, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” If you really want to know how to navigate through this life and have joy, then you need the wisdom of God in your life. “Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.” (Proverbs 1:20-23) Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God and the power of God; and the quicker He is in your life, the wiser you will be and the better off you will be.

Sing: Jesus coming soon, morning or night or noon, many will meet their doom. Trumpets will sound; All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies, going where no one dies, Heavenward bound.

Thought For Today“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.” (Proverbs 8:11)
