How to Grow
“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and
envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of
the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:1-2)
Today’s Morsel: They say that the
Bible is the number one bestselling book each year and yet the least read. The
Lord told Joshua that if he was to be courageous and have good success, then he
must never let the word of God depart out of his mouth. That he must meditate
daily in it giving himself holy to it (My wording, read Joshua 1:1-9 for
clarity). Peter tells us that if we want to grow in Christ, we must desire the
sincere milk of the word of God. You must study it and meditate daily. Do you
read your Bible daily? Do you attend Bible study at your church? Do you teach
home Bible Studies to others? Do you listen closely to your pastor’s sermons or
the evangelist that he brings to your church? Are you involved with Bible
Quizzing or memorization of the word? Do you share your faith with others?
If you want to grow spiritually, then you must have a sincere desire for
the word of God.
Sing: Deeper, deeper, though it cost hard
trials, deeper let me go! Rooted in the holy love of Jesus, let me fruitful
grow.
O deeper yet I pray, and higher every day, and wiser,
blessed Lord, in Thy precious holy word.
Thought For Today: “But grow in grace,
and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both
now and for ever. Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18)
