Mark Them
“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and
offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”
(Romans 16:17)
Today’s Morsel: One of the things in
the church is that we don’t like to mark people. But Paul tells us to mark
those who come with another doctrine or teaching that causes others to stumble
and to avoid them. One of the things about personal convictions is that they
can cause others to stumble. Therefore, I believe that in the church we must be
the same. As Paul taught, “Fulfil ye my
joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being
of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every
man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this
mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation,
and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And
being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself (Philippians 2:2-8) You
see humility is about you. It’s about you taking the low road and not thinking
of yourself more highly than you ought because you don’t want to cause division
and be a stumbling block for others. Esteem others more than
yourself.
Sing: Oh’ when the saints go marching in,
oh, when the saints go marching in; oh Lord I want to be in that number when
the saints go marching in.
Thought For Today: “If there come any
unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither
bid him God speed” (2 John 1:10)
