Walking By Faith

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:35-39)

Today’s Morsel:  One of the things that Jesus often scolded His disciples for was a lack of faith.  For some reason, they just could not get to the point where they believe.  I know of many folks who have been in the church for years, and yet they too still struggle with their faith.  It is not a condemnation, but shouldn’t those who say that they know Him be stronger in the faith than those who do not believe?  Our faith is only going to be stronger when we use it often.  From the prophets of old to the writers in the New Testament, we are told that the just must live by faith; And that we must walk by faith and not by sight.  So how do we do that?  First, we must understand that faith without works is dead.  Faith must be tested before you need it.  No soldier goes into battle not knowing if his weapon will work or not.  He is given an opportunity to test it before he needs it.  If you never witness to others about your faith in Christ, your faith is going to be weak when you need it.  Daily, we are given an opportunity to share our faith with others. Whether in the home or outside the home, God gives us all an opportunity to use it.  Notice David’s attitude toward Goliath. What was the difference between David’s faith in God’s ability and the other men in Saul’s army?  He had been anointed by the Prophet.  If you say that you have received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, then guess who has anointed you?  The great High Priest, Jesus Christ.  Therefore, we must not walk by sight but by our faith in God’s ability to work through us. Second, we must understand that our faith is only going to be stronger when we mix the word of God with it (Hebrews 4:2). Paula admonishes us, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.(Romans 10:17)  If we never read and study God’s word, we will never have faith in God’s ability to do what He says.

Sing: Walking by faith with Jesus the Lord on my way home. Yes, on my way home. Walking by faith, yes, I’m walking by faith with Jesus the Lord, walking with Jesus, striving each day to gain the heavenly reward, Till I reach home, no more will I roam, till I reach that heavenly home.

Thought For Today: “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7)
