Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 May 26

How Are The Mighty Fallen

“How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places. I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women. How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!” (2 Samuel 1:25-27)

Today’s Morsel: Around the world today, but especially here in America, we honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for love of country and their fellow man. Warfare has a way of leaving a memory in the minds of loved ones and friends of what many may never understand. There has been many poems, quotes, and songs written about this day, to honor the mighty who have fallen. It has been stated that all gave some, but some gave all. And that is what this day is about. Honoring those who gave all. This day cannot be described with words or speeches by man. It can only be described by us who are alive and remain to not let their death be in vain.  Today is not a day to honor the living in uniform who go about to protect our freedoms and ways of life. It is about those, who like Jesus Christ, gave all that others might live.  I salute my comrade in arms who gave all that others may live free.

Sing: Glory! Glory! Hallelujah. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah.  Glory! Glory! Hallelujah. His truth is marching on.

Thought For Today: A hero is one who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom.
