2010 December 31 - Morning Manna

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
(1 Corinthians 15:51-58)

Today's Morsel:  Just what is change? And why do we need change?  And how does change affected us? Change means to become different, or make something or somebody different; to pass or make something pass from one state or stage to another.  It means to alter, modify, transform, adjust, amend, or to make an alteration.  So what changes do you need to make in your life?
Each day we are changing, whether we like it or not. We are changing from the moment we are born.  As our body becomes older, it changes.  As we age, we are no longer able to do those things we use to do.  We are changing, but some folks don't like change.  If their hair starts to change from its natural color to gray, they want to change it back and so they try to dye it back to its original color.  When their face begins to wrinkle, they go and get a face lift to try to remove the aging.  But change is still going to come.  Paul said: "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed."   What preparation are you making for the coming year with change in your life? If we don't prepare for change in our spiritual life, we will continue to live the same way we've always lived, and do the things we've always done.  Are you willing to allow God to change you into what He wants you to be?  If we are going to be like Him, then we are going to have to change.  We need to get God off the time clock.  In other words, don't say that church starts at 10am and that we are out by 12am.  We need to change the way we worship and talk about our churches.  If we have 10 people, don't say we only have a few people attending, isn't God concerned about that 10?  Doesn't scripture say that where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I Am in the midst of thee?  If Jesus is there, who cares about the numbers?  We need to stop worrying about the number in attendance, number of baptisms and Holy Ghost infilling, and be concerned with preaching the Gospel, as that is the only thing that is going to change us and others.  Are you ready for change?

Sing:  I've been changed, I am new born now, all my life has been rearranged, what a difference it made when the Lord came to stay, in my heart, Oh yes, I've been changed.

2010 December 30 - Morning Manna

And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country. And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country. And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were: And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them. But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof. And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate. And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof; And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token: (Joshua 2:1-12)

Today's Morsel:  Do you accept defeat before it happens?  Some people hear about how good someone may be or how big someone is, and they cave in before they ever try.  Some people say, "Oh I could never be a Christian, it's too hard."  They accept defeat before they ever try.  Being a Christian is the easiest thing in the world. All you have to do is make up your mind that you are going to do what Jesus asks you to do.  Rahab said to the spies that Joshua had sent to spy the land, "I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath."

She was true in her comment that God had given them the land and that God was fighting for them.  Every child of God should be encouraged by Rahab's comment.  God is fighting for you and the battle isn't your's but His.  So don't accept defeat in anything you are asked to do or things you may face.  God is on your side and He will help you.  As the Psalmist said, "The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes"(Psalms 118:6-9).

Sing:  There's always somebody talking about me, But really I don't mind. They try to stop and block my progress most of the time.  The mean things they say, don't make me feel bad, Cause I can't miss a friend that I never had, because I got Jesus and that's enough.

2010 December 29 - Morning Manna

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:15).

Today's Morsel:  Who do you think is the recipient of forgiveness, you or the person you are forgiving?  When we really understand how God operates, we will see that we are the recipient.   If we hold on to what others have done to us, and never forgive them, we are the one who suffers and loses out.  It can become a root of bitterness within us and often times we carry that hurt into another relationship, take it out on our loved ones, become standoffish to others, or even worry ourselves crazy.  Jesus said that we must learn to forgive.  The first person we should forgive is ourselves and then others.  Paul Boese said, "Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future."  In other words, it keeps you moving forward and not looking back and focusing on the hurt.  What forgiveness really does is give God a chance to work on your behalf.

Sing:  I know the Lord will make a way for me. I know the Lord will make a way for me.  If I live a holy life, shun the wrong and do the right, I know the Lord will make a way for me.

2010 December 28 - Morning Manna

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them (Mark 11:24)

Today's Morsel: What do you really need today?  Not what do you want, but what do you really need?  Because we live in the flesh, it is oftentimes easy to confuse our desires with our needs.    Jesus said, whatsoever ye desire, when you pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.  You see, if there is really a requirement in our life, then when we pray for it, we will believe, we will wait patiently for it, and we will receive it in God's timing. But if our prayer is for a want, then we probably won't possess the faith to believe that it will come to fruition. Which stands to reason why we usually don't get a lot of our wants from God.   Do you desire spiritual things more than material things?  nDo you desire holiness more than worldliness?  Do you desire a friendship and fellowship with Jesus more than others?  When Jesus is number one in our lives, then usually our wants are few, as He makes us complete and we find contentment in Him.  Jesus further said that if we seek first the kingdom of God, then all the other things we have need of would be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).  What are your desires and needs today?

Sing:  It's my desire to live for Jesus, It's my desire to be like Him; Though often I fail and bring Him much shame, it's my desire to live for Him.
If you could see where Jesus brought me from, to where I am today; then you would know the reason why I love Him so.  You can take this world's wealth and riches I don't need earth's fame; it's my desire, it's my desire to live for Him.

2010 December 27 - Morning Manna

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
(James 1:17)

Today's Morsel:  Christmas is a time of sharing and giving gifts. The giving of gifts extends back into the book of Genesis.  When a man wanted to marry a daughter, they brought gifts to the father. Many of the principles and practices that we do today, when it comes to giving, are handed down to us from times past, and many are based on Biblical principles.  Even Solomon, the wisest man, said that a gift given in secret pacifieth anger. Proverbs 21:14).  It was the wise men who brought gifts to Jesus.  What is it about gifts?  Why do we give gifts at birthdays and at Christmas time?  Because it's a part of sharing with others what we have.  It is a principle of giving.
James tells us that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from God.  The best gift and the perfect gifts comes from God.  Paul said, "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will" (1 Corinthians 12:1-11).  They are of the Spirit.  And God is good and God is perfect.  Have you received that good and perfect gift?  If not, Peter tells you how you can receive it. "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:38-39).  The Holy Ghost is the good and perfect gift because it is Christ in you the hope of glory.

Sing: The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You. The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You. I want to know You more, I want to know You more; The greatest thing, in all my life is knowing You!

2010 December 25 - Morning Manna

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
(Matthew 1:21-23)

Today's Morsel:   CHRISTMAS.  One song writer says - its the most wonderful time of the year!  I would tend to agree.  Not just because of the gay happy meetings, the kids of good cheer, or the mistletoe!!  It is the most wonderful time of the year, because we are celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  I enjoy my own birthday, and I am thankful when my wife bakes a cake for me and my family & friends help me celebrate the day I was born; so how much more that we celebrate God Himself leaving heaven to come robed in flesh to save His people from their sins?   Enjoy this great day.  Spend it celebrating the greatest gift of all, Jesus' love for you.

SING:  Happy Birthday Jesus; I'm so glad it's Christmas; All the tinsel and lights; And the presents are nice.  But the real gift is you.

Happy Birthday Jesus; I'm so glad it's Christmas; All the carols and bells; Make the holiday swell; And it's all about you.  Happy Birthday Jesus, Jesus I love You.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

2010 December 24 - Morning Manna

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men (Luke 2:1-14).

Today's Morsel: Some call it, "The First Noel."  The first Christmas.  The annunciation of  Christ's birth was to shepherds who were tending their sheep.  They were keepers of the flock. Overseers. Caretakers.  We must realize that it is the pastor, the shepherd of the flock, that is responsible for the care of and the feeding of the sheep with truth.  If he is to be overseer and caretaker of God's sheep, he must first receive the good news of the birth of Christ himself and be a partaker of it, as he cannot share what he does not know and has not seen.  As John said, "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full" (1 John 1:1-4).  The apostle Paul informs ministers, "For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood" (Acts 20:27-28).   Jesus would later say during His ministry, "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep... I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine" (John 10:11&14).  Do you know the Good Shepherd?  His name is Jesus.

Sing: The first Noel, the angel did say was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; in fields where they lay keeping their sheep, on a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.

2010 December 23 - Morning Manna

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. (Matthew 2:1-2)

Today's Morsel:  After the birth of Jesus, wise men came seeking Him to worship Him.  The Bible calls them wise men, meaning they were men with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.  They knew that the King of the Jews was born and they came to worship Him.  Solomon said, "The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning." (Proverbs 16:21).  Are you wise in heart?  David said, "My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth" (Psalms 57:7-11). Do you have your heart set to worship and to praise Him from the rising of the sun until the going down of the same?  Wise men still seek Him to worship Him.  God seeks such to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

Sing:  Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto thee, hallelu, hallelujah.

2010 December 22 - Morning Manna

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matthew 1:22-23)

Today's Morsel:  Why would Almighty God robe Himself in human flesh to come to the earth?  This question seems to plague many. Some have even questioned how can this be.  It even divides the church.  Jesus said, "With men, this is impossible, but with God, all things are possible."  As God asked Abraham, "Is there anything to hard for the Lord?" He questioned Job, "Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" (Job 38:2-7).  Not until you have a full understanding and revelation  that Jesus Christ was God manifested in flesh, can you understand who you are in Him and what He desires to do through you.

Sing: Immanuel! Immanuel! His name is called, Immanuel! God with us. Revealed in us. His name is called Immanuel.

2010 December 21 - Morning Manna

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
(John 1:1-9)

Today's Morsel:  Isn't it amazing, that as soon as light appears darkness flee.  When traveling to the far east, you come upon the international date line.  This line divides the light from the darkness. You can see light on one side and darkness on the other.  Like this line, before we come to Jesus, we are walking in darkness even though some may think that they are not.  But when we get close to Jesus, we can soon see just how dark our lives really are.  Then when we start coming closer to Jesus, who is the light, we can see the darkness  flee.  And once we come completely to Him, all our darkness flees.  One of the reasons some people hate Christians is because their darkness is being exposed by the light of Christ that is in that person.  Therefore, the Christian has to decide if they are going to allow their light to shine, or snuff it out to fit in with those who are walking in darkness, to avoid persecution and rejection.  Jesus said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). The light of the world, Jesus, is the true light which lights every man that comes into the world.  Are you walking in darkness?  Then why not come to the light.  Jesus is the only one that can get you out of darkness and bring you into His marvelous light.  Always remember, it's hard to stumble when walking in the light.

Sing:  Shine Jesus shine, fill this land with the Father's glory.  Blaze, Spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire.  Flow, river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy.  Send forth Your word, Lord, and let there be light.

2010 December 20 - Morning Manna

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God (Luke 1:26-35).

Today  Morsel: What have you done to get ready for Jesus' coming?  When we look at history, this moment of His coming was foretold by many of the prophets of old, and even by Gabriel the messenger angel.  The Bible says that out of the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established.   When we look at John 1 verses 1 and14, it says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." The Greek word for "word" is Logos, which means, "thought or plan".  So in the beginning, was the plan, and the plan was with God and the plan was God.  And the plan was made flesh and dwelt among us.   The Bible said that Gabriel was sent by God, meaning it was God that dispatched Him to earth to prepare for the plan. God knew who He would choose to be in His plan.  He knew the location of the plan, and He knew how  the plan would unfold.  When Gabriel told Mary the plan, Mary said, How shall these things be seeing I know not a man.  And Gabriel said, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee. He said to her, God is going to make it happen. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.  (Luke 1:37-38).  She further stated let it be as God has planned.  The plan was that God would come to earth to seek and to save that which was lost.  Where do you fit into God's plan?  If you don't know, just sit tight it'll be revealed unto you shortly.

Sing:  Down from His glory, everlasting story, My God and Savior came, and Jesus was His name, born in a manger, to His own a stranger, a man of sorrows, tears and agony.
O how I love Him! How I adore Him! My breath, my sunshine, my all and all! The great Creator became my Savior, and all God's fullness dwelleth in Him.

2010 December 18 - Morning Manna

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. (Micah 5:2)

Today's Morsel: Each city has a meaning for the name given to it and for its existence.  Many cities are named after some famous explorer or hero, while others are named for their location.  They say that you can learn a lot about the attitude and lifestyle of people based on the city where they live, and who the founder of the city was.
Bethlehem, which is the city of David, lies about five miles south of Jerusalem.  It was here that Jacob buried his wife Rachel. It was here that Ruth gleaned in Boaz's field.  It was also here that David was anointed King of Israel.  And it was here that Christ was born in a manger, and the place the wise men came seeking the Savior.
Bethlehem, the city of bread.  Jesus said, "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35).  Did Jesus make this comment because He was born in Bethlehem and so He was from the city called bread?  No my friend, He made this comment because He is the true bread that came down from heaven, the bread of life.  But because of God's plan to come to the earth, being born of a virgin, and establish His church, He chose the city which David, a man after God's own heart, had been anointed, Bethlehem Judah.  The littlest among the thousands of Judah, but yet out of it would come forth the one to be the Ruler in Israel.  Israel represents the church, and Jesus came to earth to establish and rule His church, not some earthly kingdom.  As He told Pilate, "My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence." (John 18:36).  The only Kingdom Jesus is going to set up on this earth is in you, when He fills you with His Spirit.  Paul said, "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost" (Romans 14:17).  Who rules you?

Sing:  O little of town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie; above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by: Yet in the dark streets shineth the everlasting light; the hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

2010 December 17 - Morning Manna

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. (Matthew 1:18-25)

Today's Morsel:  Christmas!  That wonderful time of year that many celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  But I have noticed and observed, that many do not celebrate this time of year.  Many claim that it has become too commercialized.  Some claim that this isn't the correct time that Jesus was born, and others claim it isn't  worth the hype given to it.  But what if this was the actual time of Christ's birth here on the earth.  My take on Christmas is this, the Bible says that Jesus Christ was born to save me from my sins.  If at this time of the year people throughout the world want to celebrate the birth our my Savior, then I'm going to do everything in my power to join the party.  There just might be an opportunity for me to share the truth.  Not to tell them that this isn't the day Jesus was born and to destroy their faith, but to share with them why He came, and to lead them into a relationship with Him.  How will you let your light shine during this time of year?  Remember, the date isn't as important as the message!

Sing:  Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere, go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born.

2010 December 16 - Morning Manna

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Today's Morsel:  Probably one of the most exciting times for married couples is when they have planned for a child and God grants their wish, and that child is born.  The psalmist said "Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward" (Psalms 127:3).   Isaiah prophesied that 'unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.'  So to whom was this child born?; to the entire world.  This child belongs to everyone.  He's very special.  He's wonderful.  He's great and He's going to do great things for us.  He's a counselor, He's going to become a therapist.  He's going to be able to diagnosis every area that is wrong in our lives and give us advice on how to get it fixed.  He's going to be the mighty God, everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace.  He's going to be the one that brings peace into the storm of your life.  He's going to be the one that calms the raging seas of doubt, uncertainty, despair and fear in your life.  He's the One that spoke the world into existence, who gives life to all, and who saves man from their sin.  He's going to be God manifested in flesh, Paul said (1 Timothy 3:16).  This glorious child that was given is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ.  No other description or such wonderful words could have identified Him.  What do you call Him?

Sing:  Wonderful! Wonderful! Jesus is to me. Counselor, Prince of Peace, Mighty God is He. Saving me, keeping me, from all sin and shame; Wonderful is my Redeemer, praise His name.

2010 December 15 - Morning Manna

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).

Today's Morsel:  Can you remember as a kid how excited you were as Christmas approached each year.  Do you remember the excitement and joy of just waiting for that day when you would awake and get to open those gifts?  When we are anticipating something that is really good, joy often times fills our hearts, and we just can't wait for that special moment to come.  That's how it should be with Jesus.  Each day, we should anticipate what new things He will bring our way. We know that it's going to happen, as scripture says that He daily loadeth us with benefits.  Therefore, our anticipation level should always remain high.  We should anticipate the new and refreshing revelation of truth and His Word.  The new insight and opening of our understanding to scripture.  A new direction based on the Word of God.  A new outlook on life.  A new and refreshing dose of the Holy Ghost and power.  Excitement, day by day.  Paul said that we shall not all sleep but we shall be changed (1 Corinthians 15:51).  Does that excite you, knowing that someday Jesus is going to call us home?  Don't be discouraged my friends, we are going to a better place, so be encouraged.

Sing: There is coming a day when no heartaches shall come, no more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye; all is peace forever more on that happy golden shore, what a day, glorious day that will be.

Chorus: What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, when I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace; when He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the Promised Land, what a day, glorious day that will be.

2010 December 14 - Morning Manna

The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. Jesus saith unto her,  Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:15-24)

Today's Morsel:  Cell phones seem to be a big deal these days.  If you don't have  a cell phone, you are behind the times.  Everyone seems to be calling somebody.  It seems it was just a few years ago that when we wanted to make a call overseas, you would have to go through an operator.  But now you just punch in the numbers and you are connected on the other side of the world. Technology is great, isn't it?  Jesus told the woman at the well, go call your husband and come here. What if she did have a husband, and cell phones where available, she could have just punched in his number and said, 'Jesus is here at the well and He wants to see you.'  Do you use your phone to call and remind others of church and service times?  Do you call to see how people are feeling and how they are doing?  Do you use it for spiritual encouragement and enlightment for others?  Jesus said that the Father is seeking for people to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.   How many of your 1440 minutes that God provides to you each day do you use to call Him to see how He's doing, or to just let Him know that you were thinking about Him?  Paul said that we should redeem the time because the days are evil.  In other words, you need to use it carefully and cautiously, because you never know when you may need a few minutes to talk with heaven.  Why not use your cell phone minutes as an evangelistic tool and call someone and invite them to church.  They may just be the ones that God are looking for to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.  And be sure to use some of your daily minutes to talk with God!

Sing:  Telephone to glory, O what joy divine! I can feel the current, moving on the line, built by God the Father, for His loved and own, we may talk to Jesus, through this royal telephone.

2010 December 13 - Morning Manna

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).

Today's Morsel:  They say that the fastest growing denomination in the world today is Pentecostals.  People are looking for and returning to the original pattern as it was on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem (Acts 2).  Many churches have erred from that original pattern.  Moses was told to see that he made all things after the pattern (Hebrews 8:5).  Pews are empty.  Young people are looking, but they aren't content with churches that do not preach the original apostolic message that Peter, Paul, and the rest of the apostles preached.  Many churches are developing program after program in hope to pull and maintain the masses, but until they return to the original message that Jesus said to preach and to teach, programs aren't going to get the job done.  As Ford Motor Company says, "Quality is job one."  People want change in their lives.  They know that Jesus is the answer, but if the message is sugar coated and watered down, it's not going to do what it was intended to do.  As Paul told the church at Galatia, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:6-8).  Therefore, any church and its members that say that they are born again Christians, their message must be the same as the apostles.  The original church all had a common salvation, Jude said, ( Jude 3).  The New Testament church began on the Day of Pentecost with Peter preaching  repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost.  Death, Burial, and Resurrection, The Gospel.  And it began with power, the Holy Ghost, and with much assurance (1Thess 1:5).  Do you know your church's doctrine?  Is it based on the original pattern given on the day of Pentecost?

SingI'm a Pentecostal, I am not ashamed, just read the book of Acts, we are still the same. We worship only one God, Jesus is His name, we are apostolic.... in every way.

2010 December 11 - Morning Manna

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light
(Matthew 11:28-30).

Today's Morsel:  I'm sure most of you can remember that old fable, the story of the tortoise and the hare. The hare, being much faster than the tortoise, felt that he had plenty of time to take a rest and still win the race.  But to his surprise, when he awoke from his rest, the tortoise  was crossing the finish line. You need rest, but don't rest so long that you don't win the race.  As Joseph told his brethren, "See that you fall not out by the way."  Are you tired?  Could you use a little rest today?  When I ask people how are they doing, they often reply, "Oh, I'm so busy. I'm so tired."  Many of them are tied up in a knot.  They can't sleep.  They are restless.  Aches and pain are constantly running through their bodies.  They want rest and refreshing, but they can't seem to find out how to go about obtaining it.   Jesus told His disciples, come apart and rest awhile.  We all need rest.  We all need those times of refreshing.  "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19), Peter said.  The Holy Ghost is the refreshing.  Until you decide that you are going to make Jesus priority number one in your life, you aren't going to have rest.   Can you use some rest?  If so, then why not come to Jesus today and allow Him to refresh you.

Sing: Hear the blessed Savior calling the oppressed, "O ye heavy laden, come to Me and rest; come, no longer tarry, I your load will bear, bring Me every burden, bring Me every care."

Chorus: Come unto Me; I will give you rest, take My yoke upon you, hear Me and be blest; I am meek and lowly, come and trust My might; come, My yoke is easy, and My burden light.

2010 December 10 - Morning Manna

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (Acts 1:4-11)

Today's Morsel: Throughout scripture, Jesus tried to reveal to the people who He was.  But because He was a human, many did not believe Him who He said that He was.  Shocking to some, and even more shocking to many today.  Many question how Jesus Christ could be God in flesh.  Many even wanted to kill Him for blaspheme. But Jesus said, "No man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him" (Matthew 11:27).  But in order to obtain this understanding, Paul said it takes the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 12:3).  Paul received his confirmation as to who Jesus was on the road to Damascus (Acts 9).  And after his understanding and knowledge of Jesus, he wrote to the churches, "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily"(Colossians 2:8-9).  And he also told Timothy, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory" (1 Timothy 3:16).  He said God was manifested in flesh.  Meaning, God came to earth, taking on human flesh.  The angels told the apostles, "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."  How is your understanding of Jesus today?  Are you confused?  Revelatation of Christ comes by the spirit of Christ.  Ask, and it shall be given unto thee, seek and you shall find. Knock and the door of your understanding shall be open, Jesus said.

Sing: 1. Down from His glory, ever living story, My God and Savior came, and Jesus was His name. Born in a manger, to His own a stranger, A man of sorrows, tears, and agony.
Chorus

2. What condescension, bring us redemption; that in the dead of night, not one faint hope in sight, God gracious, tender, laid aside His splendor, stooping to woo, to win, to save my soul.
Chorus

3. Without reluctance, flesh and blood His substance, He took the form of man, revealed the hidden plan, O glorious mystery sacrifice of Calvary, and now I know Thou art the great "I Am."
Chorus

Chorus:  O how I love Him! How I adore Him! My breath, my sunshine, my all in all! The great Creator became my savior, and all God's fullness dwelleth in Him.

2010 December 9 - Morning Manna

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child (Luke 2:8-17).

Today's Morsel:  The annunciation of Jesus Christ into the world was demonstrated by a heavenly host praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."  This was not just another child that was being born, this child was special.  This was God manifested in flesh. This was the Savior of the world.  This was the one that Moses and the prophets had written about.  This was the one spoke by the prophet Micah that would come, "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:2).  Bethlehem, the city of bread; the city of Naomi, Ruth, Boaz, and David.  And now the  city of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Do you see what I see?  Do you hear what I hear?  Do you know what I know?  Listen!  We have a Savior. We have a King and we have a Lord.  His name is Jesus Christ.  For neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given unto men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12); "And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDs" (Revelation 19:16).  Do you know what I know?

Sing: 1. Said the night wind to the little lamb, do you see what I see. Way up in the sky little lamb. Do you see what I see.  A star, a star dancing in the night with a tail as big as a kite, with a tail as big as a kite.

2. Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, do you hear what I hear. Ringing through the sky shepherd boy, do you hear what I hear. A song, a song high above the tree, with a voice as big as the sea.  With a voice as big as the sea.

3. Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king, do you know what I know. In your palace wall mighty king, do you know what I know.  A child, a child, shivers in the cold, let us bring him silver and gold, let us bring him silver and gold.

4. Said the king to the people everywhere, listen to what I say. Pray for peace people everywhere.  Listen to what I say.  The child, the child, sleeping in the night, He will bring us goodness and light. He will bring us goodness and light.

2010 December 8 - Morning Manna

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. (Hebrews 13:15)

Today's Morsel:  What are you thankful for today?  Did you remember to give God thanks for this day and for all the benefits He has rendered unto you?  Did you thank Him for family, friends, employment, shelter, food, clothing, and most importantly for the Holy Ghost and your salvation?  Under the law, the children of Israel were required to bring a thanksgiving offering to the Lord (Leviticus 7:11-15).  Their offering was to be given freely.  No arm twisting.  Just because they were thankful and wanted to show thankfulness to God for all that He had done.  When we turn to the New Testament, our sacrifice is to be with our lips, giving thanks and praise unto His name.  When we remember to say thank you, on a continual basis, God becomes well pleased with our offering. When people aren't thankful, it's a sign of discontentment and dissatisfaction. But on the other hand, when we are content and satisfied with who we are, and what we have, it is easy for us to be thankful.  We must learn to cultivate an attitude of gratitude and not an attitude of ingratitude.  So many seem to be ungrateful today.  But this isn't anything new. Paul said that in the last days men would be unthankful (2 Tim 3:1-7).  But as the saints of old use to say, "When I think of the goodness of Jesus, and all that He has done for me, my soul cries out hallelujah, and I thank God for saving me."  The difference between gratitude and ingratitude is "in".  If you are "in" Christ, then you should be thankful and grateful.  But if not, then you will always cultivate and nurture a spirit of unthankfulness and ungratefulness. Which best describes you? Praise is really just thanking God for what He has done and is doing for you.  Oh, by the way, don't forget that monetary offering.  It's part of your worship.

Sing: Thanks, Thanks, I give you thanks, for all you have done. I am so blessed, my soul has found rest. O Lord, I give you thanks.

2010 December 7 - Morning Manna

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing  (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Today's Morsel: The apostle Paul was a warrior for Jesus Christ.  Paul's focus in his mission was for one purpose, to see Jesus.  He went about every day seeking to save that which was lost. He was willing to continue on no matter the cost.  Life wasn't an issue for Paul, as he looked forward to seeing the One who had given His life for Him.  There were things that Paul wanted to know.  He wanted to know the fellowship of Christ's suffering, and the resurrection of His power. There was something that gripped Paul's life that made him run not as unwise but wise.  There was something that made him fight not as one that beat against the air, but as one that that knew what his target was.  Paul knew that at the end of every race, there is only one winner, and that the winner in the winner's circle was given a crown of victory and triumph.  Paul said that he was running this Gospel race not for a corruptible crown, but for an incorruptible one.  One that would not perish.  One that was pure and would not fade.  One that only Jesus can give.  What are you running for?  What are you fighting for?  If you are looking for a crown here on earth, it's going to be corruptible.  But the crown that Jesus will give to you when you cross His finish line, rusts not and moths cannot corrupt it and thieves cannot break through and steal it.

Sing: There are men with ambition, they seek wealth and fame, but I've one and only one goal to attain; I don't ask to be remembered when my life's sun has gone down, I only ask at least one star in my crown.

Chorus:  Don't let me forget where You found me, let me remember You had to reach way down; let me toil till I'm foot-sore, let me search till I'm weary, but don't let me stand without a star in my crown.

2010 December 6 - Morning Manna

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime (Daniel 6:10).

Today's Morsel:  Down south during olden times, people didn't say raise up the window or open the window, they said, "Heist".  "Heist up that window," they would say.  They wanted them to be open so fresh air could come in.  Daniel kept his window open toward the holy city. He directed his prayers toward Jerusalem and prayed and gave thanks to God at all times.  Daniel wanted nothing obstructing his view.  He wanted openness to His God.  We need to ensure that our spiritual window to heaven is always open and never shut.  Are you willing to keep the window to your heart open and allow Jesus to have free excess into your life?   When the window to our heart is open, it allows God to come in at His liberty and make changes as He sees fit.  Do you have your spiritual window open?  If not, why not get it heisted up, so Jesus can just come on in.

Sing:  Let Jesus come on in! Let Him come on in!  Heist up your window, open up the door, let Him, come on in.

2010 December 4 - Morning Manna

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5)

Today's Morsel:  I can remember once I was the minister for a funeral, at the  end of the funeral when it was time to go to the grave site, no one took into consideration that I, the minister, would need a ride.  Everyone left me and I had to hitchhike to the cemetery for the conclusion of the service.  I laughed all the way, and even today my wife finds humor in telling this story.  Do you ever feel forsaken?  Do you ever feel as though everyone has left you?  Paul told Timothy that all that be in Asia had turn from him ( 2 Timothy 1:15).  Paul felt forsaken.   Jesus had many of His disciples forsake Him when He was arrested in the garden.  The true test of friendship if people stick close by you when you are facing circumstances and difficulties.  Hebrews 13:5 is a fulfillment of Joshua 1:5.  God wanted Joshua to know that He would not fail him nor forsake him.  And since the promise is to the seed of Abraham and we are that seed, God will not forsake us.  Therefore, we must learn to exercise our faith in God, when it seems as though everyone else has departed and left us to fend for ourselves.  As the psalmist said, "He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy way" (Psalms 92:11).  Therefore, open your spiritual eyes and you'll see a heavenly host right beside you.

Sing:  He will never fail, for He is God!  He will never fail, He gave His Word! He will never fail, He'll see you through!  He will never fail, for He loves you.

2010 December 3 - Morning Manna

And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. (Genesis 32:24-28)

Today's Morsel:  Have you ever heard these names before:  Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah?  What about Belteshazzar?  Many people throughout scripture had their names changed.  Some people change their names to protect their identity while others change them to avoid persecution from others, while still others had their's changed through adoption.  Jacob's name, given to him by his parents, meant deceiver, liar, cheap, supplanter.  But after his encounter with God, and his prevail with God, God, changed his name from Jacob to Israel.  Meaning a prince.  God didn't want Jacob to look at himself for what he was, but for what he would and could become. People may remember you for what you were, but when you have a spiritual encounter with Jesus, He will change you to what you can become.  As Paul said,  "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).  The names Belteshazzar (Daniel), Hananiah (Shadrach), Mishael, (Meshach) and Azariah (Abednego), were the Babylonian names given to them.  We may not be pleased with the name given to us here on earth, but we are going to have a new name in heaven.

Sing: There's a new name written down in glory, and it's mine, O yes it's mine! And the white robed angels sing the story, "A sinner has come home." For there's a new name written down in glory, and it's mine, O yes, it's mine! With my sins forgiven, I am bound for heaven, never more to roam.

2010 December 2 - Morning Manna

After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:1-14).

Today's Morsel: Where were you when Jesus first forgave you of your sins?  Where were you when He first appeared to you and forgave you? Were you like the man at the pool, hanging with everyone else that had problems?  At what point was it in your life that you realized that you needed to make a change?  We may think that it was us coming to the conclusion that we needed to make the change, but if we would look a little closer, we'll find that it was God drawing us.  For Jesus said, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:44).  You see, there is a method to God's ways of doing things.  Someone may have prayed and interceded for you and this is why you had that urge to change.  Old prayers never die.  The man in today's passage was in his condition for 38years. That's a long time.  Jesus knew he had been in that condition that long, and Jesus himself wasn't even 33 yet. The reason He knew was because He's was God manifested in flesh, and God knows all things.  When Jesus found the man in the temple after his healing, He told him, "Go and sin no more, lest a worst thing happen to him."  Just what ailment, pain, or suffering is taking place in your life because of sin?  Do you have sin in your life?  Probably one of the greatest sins in a person's life that can hinder them, and they may not even be aware of, is the sin of unforgiveness.  Unforegiveness keeps you weighed down and resentful and angry.  It makes you bitter towards others and prevents you from loving others the way that Jesus has instructed us to.  Jesus said that if we don't forgive others, neither will our heavenly father forgive us.  Why not get the record straight today.

Sing:  The load of sin was more than I could bear, He took my sins away, He took my sins away, and now on Him I roll my every care, He took my sins away.
He took my sins away, He took my sins away, and keeps me singing every day! I'm so glad He took my sins away, He took my sins away.

2010 December 1 - Morning Manna

Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry (2 Timothy 4:9-11).

Today's Morsel:  John Mark, the author of the book of Mark, was denounced by the Apostle Paul for his failure to continue with the team (Paul and Barnabas) when they were first called of God to the ministry (Acts 13:1-14). After a period of time, when Paul desired Barnabas to come with him to see the brethren and church which they had established, Barnabas desired to take John Mark along with them. But Paul thought it was not good to take him with them because he had left them before.  And there was great contention between Paul and Barnabas over Paul's refusal (Acts 15:36-41).  You see, John Mark was Barnabas' nephew.  Barnabas may have seen something in John Mark that Paul didn't and knew that John was ready for the mission.   But now, many years later, Paul realizes the importance that John Mark is to his ministry, and thus he sends for him.  Apparently, Mark had received much training from his uncle Barnabas who was a loyal and faithful servant of the Jesus Christ.  Like Mark, I'm sure that there may be many men and women, who at the first felt a call to do something for God, but because of unknown reasons, may have went back.  But now, through much prayer, refocusing, and a recommitting of their lives wholeheartedly to God, they are ready for the mission.  What about you?  Did you feel a call to do something for Jesus, but circumstances beyond your control impeded you?  Do you still have that pulling at your heart to go.  Well, if you have your focus correct, and you feel that you are now ready to recommit, why not go forward and allow God to use you.  Just say to yourself, it's the eleventh hour, and there is still work that I can do.

Sing: 1. Dear Lord I'll be a witness, if You will help my weakness, I know that I'm not worthy, Lord, of Thee.  By eyes of faith I see Thee, upon the cross of Calvary; dear Lord, I cry, let me Thy servant be. (Chorus)

2. I'll stand for Thee dear Jesus, whatever the cost may be; I'll spread the gospel to the lost each day; But if it be Thy will, Lord, to send me over the sea, I'll follow Thee though death should come my way (Chorus)

Chorus:  Jesus, use me and O Lord don't refuse me, for surely there's a work that I can do; and even though it's humble, Lord, Help my will to crumble, though the cost be great I'll work for you.
