Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 May 30

Who’s In charge of You?

“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” (Proverbs 16:32)

Today’s Morsel: Self-control and self-discipline are traits that ought to be found in every believer. Because the trait of temperance came with the Holy Ghost, we ought to be able to control our actions, behavior, and conduct no matter where we find ourselves. We must be large and in charge of ourselves. Jesus said, behold I give you power. Not only the power to defeat your enemy, but also the power to exercise good, sound judgment when it comes to making right choices and decisions. Another thing that you ought to be able to control is your tongue and attitude. You should now be the overseer of the words that proceed from your mouth and know when and how to use them. You should also be the boss of anger. Nobody wants to work for an angry boss.  When Jesus puts His spirit in you, He expects you to allow it to lead and to guide you not for you to push it to the side and do what you want. Paul advices us, “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians 4:17-24)The new man should be like Jesus, not like the devil.  Either you are a new creature, or you aren’t.

Sing: Born-again, there has been a change in me; born-again, just like Jesus said. Born-again and all because of Calvary. I’m so glad that I’ve been born-again.

Thought For Today: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
