All Have Sin
“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” (Romans 3:21-26)
Today’s Morsel: I think the fallacy of some folks is that they think that it is alright to sin because they are still in this flesh, and that because they sometimes struggle with their flesh in stopping them from sinning, they just use it as a crutch to continue to sin. But Peter calls that foolishness. He says: “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.” (2 Peter 2:20-22) The writer of Hebrews also tells us, that Jesus Christ was tempted in all points just as we are, but He did not sin (Hebrews 4:15). In other words, Jesus did not give into His temptations. Temptation is not a sin. Not unless you give in to it. Then it becomes sin. Paul makes the comment that all have sinned. But he asked/told the church at Rome: “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?” (Romans 6:1-3) “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” (Romans 6:6-7) “For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” (Romans 6:10-12) When we became born-again of the water and the spirit, we died, and we buried the sins which we carried in our lives in the watery grave of baptism. And now we have received power (the Holy Ghost), to teach us, and to help us, not to allow sin to enter and rule in our lives ever again. We all have sinned, but let’s not continue therein.
Sing: Goodbye to sin and things that confound, naught of this world shall turn me around; daily I’m working and I’m praying to, and glory to God, I’m going through.
He set me free, yes, He set me free, He broke the bars of prison for me. I’m glory bound my Jesus to see, glory to God, He set me free.
Thought For Today: “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)
