2013 December 31 - Morning Manna

"And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son." (Matthew 2:12-15)

Today's Morsel:   Immigration reform is a term used in political discussion regarding changes to the current immigration policy of a country.  In its strict definition, "reform" means to change into an improved form or condition, by amending or removing faults or abuses.  In the political sense, "immigration reform" may include promoted, expanded, or open immigration, as well as reduced or eliminated immigration.  " Immigration reform" in the United States of America is widely used to describe proposals to increase legal immigration while decreasing illegal immigration (wikipedia.org).
Joseph, Mary, and Jesus;  by all accounts; would have been classified as illegal immigrants.  But they knew that the country that God had sent them in to was only for a short stay.  Because all the prophecies about Jesus had to be fulfilled, the Lord sent them into Egypt so that it would be fulfilled, "Out of Egypt have I called my son."  Egypt represents the world.  When the Bible speaks of the world, it is saying, that we, as the children of God, should not partake in any of the evils and wrongs in the world that we see others do.  We are in the world, but not of the world.  When Paul wrote,  "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty" (2 Corinthians 6:14-18), he said, God called for his sons and daughters to come out of the world and that he would be a father unto us.  You are not to always remain in Egypt (the ways of the world).  The world is only your home for a short stay, so don't try to get a permanent visa for it.  We are seeking for a better country wherein dwells righteousness.  Joseph, Mary, and Jesus were only to stay in Egypt until God sent for them. The same way God had told Abraham that he would send someone to bring his seed out of  captivity in Egypt and into the promised land.  So today, Jesus is come to bring you out of the world and back into His marvelous light and land of promise.

Sing: He said, come unto to me; and I will give you rest; take my yoke upon you, hear Me and be blessed; I am meek and lowly, come and trust My might; come, my yoke is easy, and My burden light.

2013 December 30 - Morning Manna

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the land. But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof. (Isaiah 6:8-13)

Today's Morsel: The Encarta Dictionary defines substance as the physical reality that can be touched and felt.  The writer of Hebrews said, "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:14-16).  We can touch Him.  We can feel Him.  We can embrace Him.  For He is not far from any of us.  The Lord told Isaiah that as a teil tree and as an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall be the substance thereof in the land.  As the angel told Mary, "The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."(Luke 1:31-35). The holy seed is Christ.  He is our substance. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1).  "But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise"  (Galatians 3:22-29).  John wrote: "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:1-3).  We can touch Him.  He is our substance in this earth.

Sing: Touching Jesus is all that really matters, and your life will never be the same, there is only one way to touch Him,  just believe when you call on His name.

2013 December 28 - Morning Manna

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage."(Deuteronomy 6:4-12)

Today's Morsel: Each morning, as my wife and I are doing our devotions and I begin to read, it's amazing to me the number of times in scriptures that there are mentions of what the Lord did for His people, and yet, they still did not reverence Him, respect Him, or give Him thanks for the things that He had done for them.  Sad to say, the same holds true today. Folks just don't seem to reverence God for what He does for them on a daily basis. The Psalmist said that we should give thanks unto the Lord for He is good.  For His mercy endures forever (Psalms 136:1).  Moses had told them that once they came into the Land of Promise they were to not forget God.  They were to teach and to show their families and next generations the things the Lord had done for them.  But they did not and they served other gods.   And today, people are receiving the promise of the Holy Ghost, yet they forget what God has done for them and they head off and serve other gods.  Always remember, if you forget God when things are going good for you, you won't be able to find Him when things are going bad for you unless you have a broken and spirit and a broken and contrite heart; because that is the only thing He will not despise.

Sing:  Thank you Lord, for saving my soul.  Thank you Lord for making me whole.  Thank you Lord for giving to me, Thy great salvation so rich and free.

2013 December 27 - Morning Manna

"He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever."  (Psalms 111:9-10)

Today's Morsel:   So many seem to misunderstand the meaning of Christmas.  Christmas is about redemption. It is about deliverance and a deliverer for the people.  When the angel told Joseph, "He shall save his people from their sins," he was saying that  a redeemer is coming.  This wasn't just an ordinary child born in that stable, it was our Redeemer, the mighty God in flesh.  Isaiah had prophesied of Him, "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any" (Isaiah 44:6-8).  "As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel" (Isaiah 47:4). And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. (Isaiah 59:20). "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).  Our redeemer has come. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). God will not break His covenant with his people.  He has come to redeem us from our sins and to save that which was lost.

Sing: Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall obtain, gladness and joy, and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing unto Zion and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads.

2013 December 26 - Morning Manna

"And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them."(Luke 2:15-20)

Today's Morsel:  A few weeks ago I was teaching adult Sunday School, and I asked the class why the angels first appeared to the shepherds to tell them that Jesus was born?  It was a question that took everyone by surprise. I believe the reason was to fulfill prophecy.  The Lord had spoken through the prophet Jeremiah, "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more. At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart" (Jeremiah 3:15-17).   The shepherds represent the pastors and it is the pastors who are responsible for feeding and taking the oversight for the flock of God.  Once a man or woman of God is called to the pastorship, their basic duty is to feed and care for God's flock.  They are to also make known to a lost and dying world that the Savior has come and they are to lead others to the fold.  Peter admonishes, "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over  God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away"(1 Peter 5:2-4).

Sing:  If when you give, the best of your service, telling the world, that the Savior has come, be not dismayed, if men don't believe you, He'll understand and say, "Well done!"
Oh when I come to the end of my journey, weary of life and the battle is won, carrying the staff and the cross of redemption, He'll understand and say well done!

2013 December 25 - Morning Manna

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them."  (Luke 2:8-20)

Today's Morsel: Today, around the world, we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Many may ask the question why all the hoopla, gift exchanging, decorations, and excitement?  I'm sure that each of us can relate to our own birthday celebrations.  Our parents may have given us gifts, and we may have even received gifts from others.  We may have had family and friends come and celebrate with us.  Jesus' birth was the fulfillment of prophecy. "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel"(Isaiah 7:14); "Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us" (Matthew 1:22-23).  Jesus birth was no different than any other child's birth, other than that He was God manifested in flesh.  And so as you celebrate today, please don't forget the reason for this season. "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins" Matthew 1:21).  We celebrate the birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords; our Savior and our Redeemer.

Sing: Happy Birthday, Jesus, I'm so glad it's Christmas. All the tinsel and lights and the presents are nice, but the real gift is You.
Happy Birthday, Jesus, I'm so glad it's Christmas. All the carols and bells make the holidays swell and it's all about You.

Happy Birthday, Jesus; Jesus, I love You.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!

2013 December 24 - Morning Manna

"Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book! That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever! For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me"
(Job 19:23-27
)

Today's Morsel: Often when we read the book of Job, we don't see Job speaking prophetically of Jesus' birth and His coming to the earth.  But if we will take a closer look at what Job says here, we can see that he was speaking prophetically of Jesus.  He said, "For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth."  The word "latter" means "last." According to Isaiah 44:6, "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God" (Isaiah 44:6).  And Job said that he would stand upon the earth in the latter day.  Peter, speaking on the Day of Pentecost, spoke of Joel's' prophesy, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh..." (Acts 2:17).  But Job said that in the last day his redeemer would stand upon the earth.  John wrote, "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?" (John 7:37-42).  "And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel" (Luke 2:25-32).   Friend, our Redeemer has come and the greatest gift you can receive is the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Simeon, like Job, knew that as long as he retained his relationship with God, no matter what happened in his body, he would someday see his Redeemer.

Sing: What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see, when I look upon His face, the one who saved my by His grace; when He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the Promised Land, what a day, glorious day that will be.

2013 December 23 - Morning Manna

"He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name" (Psalms 111:9)

Today's Morsel:  One of the things I like about reading God's Word is that He speaks to us through it.  God often gives His promises to us through His Word.
The Psalmist said, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions"(Psalms 107:20).  Notice, He sent his Word and healed them. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth" (John 1:1;14).  It may not heal you physically at all times, but it can and will heal you spiritual and emotionally. It can deliver you from evil and corrupt thoughts, and build you up from low-self esteem and emotions.  The psalmist said, "He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name."  In other words, He sent atonement for human sin.  He sent salvation, deliverance, liberation, recovery, and release to His people.  That little baby born in Bethlehem wasn't just any child, this was your and my redeemer; Jesus Christ.

Sing:  I will praise my Redeemer, and His heavenly power I'll tell, How the victory He giveth over sin, death, and hell.
Sing, oh, sing of my Redeemer with His blood He purchased me, on the cross He sealed my pardon, paid my debt and made me free.

2013 December 21 - Morning Manna

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.   (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Today’s Morsel:  Oftentimes, many people have trouble accepting God’s faithfulness when they are faced with uncertainties and infirmities in their lives.  They become somewhat like the man who said to Jesus, “Lord I believe, but help thou my unbelief.”   There is just something about us humans that hinders us from believing that God can do what He said that He would and can do.  So let me encourage you today.  The next time the X-ray comes back and it doesn’t look good, remember that God is still faithful.  When you receive a heartbreaking letter from a loved one or a friend, remember that God is still faithful. When you receive the worst kind of news you could ever receive about one of your children or family members, remember that God is still faithful.  When the landlord tells you have to move and you have no place to go, remember that God is still faithful.  When those situations and trials come your way, remember that God has not abandoned you even though you may think He has, He’s still faithful and will see you through.  As Solomon said, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (“Proverbs 3:5-6).  “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”  (Jeremiah 29:11-13).  I promise you, He’s faithful.

Sing:  There’s not an hour that he is not near us, No not one! No not one! No night so dark but his love cannot cheer us, No not one! No not one!
Jesus knows all about our struggles, he will guide til the day is done; there’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus, No not one! No not one.

2013 December 20 - Morning Manna

I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts (Psalms 119:63).

Today’s Morsel:  I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Birds of a feather, flock together.”  If someone were to ask you who are you keeping company with, who would you say?  Friendship is very important in our walk with the Lord.  We must ensure that those we choose as our companions and friends are first and foremost those that fear God and keep His sayings, because friendship with the world is enmity with God.  We may have other friends and companions, but godly friends should always be our first choosing and our closest friends.   Who do you spend most of your time with?  Who are your cohorts, pals, and friends?  Jesus said, "I have called you friend."  Are you keeping a strong relationship with Him?  Solomon said, "A friend, loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity" (Proverbs 17:17).  If the people you associate yourself with are godly, faithful friends and companions, then when difficult times come you won't have to worry because they will always be there for you.  Choose your friends wisely.

Sing:  Just to walk with Him means everything to me, Just to know He’s near, His hand is leading me;  though the world may past me by; and go their way, let me be; just to walk with Him, means everything to me.

2013 December 19 - Morning Manna

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity (1Timothy 4:12).

Today’s Morsel:  Someone said that the reason morality is on such a huge decline in every country is because the people are electing and appointing men and women to leadership positions who have no character.  One writer said, "The only thing the mourners will take away with them of you from your grave when you die is your character."  They can bury you, but they can’t bury your character.  Who you are/were and how you lived your life will always be around.  What are people going to say about you when you die?  How is your character today?  Do you conduct self  examinations to ensure your character isn’t being tarnished?  Paul told Timothy to be an example setter because he knew that being a Christian carries a big price tag.  Jesus was the greatest example of character that ever lived.  Paul wrote, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1).  Is Jesus your  example today?  If so, then allow His character to flow into you and you will leave a great legacy for others to  follow and talk about after you are gone.

Sing:  The greatest thing in all my life, is knowing You. The greatest thing in all my life, is knowing You. I want to know You more, I want to know You more, The greatest thing in all my life, is knowing You.

2013 December 18 - Morning Manna

"And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child" (Luke 2:1-5)

Today’s Morsel:  How do you feel about having to pay taxes? I mean it seems as though everything is taxed.  Luke records “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.  And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.”  So we can see that taxing folk is nothing new.  Do you feel as though you are being over taxed today?  I’m not talking about finances, even though this may have some of you burdened down. But I’m talking about being overcome and over-taxed with personal problems and with cares and issues of life.  You see when you are over taxed, you can’t seem to get out from under them.  They seem to weigh you down and cause you to feel that pressure like your head is in a vise- grip.  They make you feel like the whole world is on your shoulder and you need some relief.  In the natural, politicians will tell you that if you vote for them, they will reduce your taxes.  And you vote for them only to realize they raised your taxes and you are still burdened financially.  Friend,  let me assure you that if  you want relief for the taxes of personal problems and the cares of life, you can trust Jesus.  He is the only one that can relieve your taxes.

Sing:  Shackled by a heavy burden, 'neath the load of guilt and shame; then the hand of Jesus touched me, and now I am no longer the same.
He touched me, Oh, He touched me; and oh the joy that fills my soul; something, happened and now I know, Jesus touched me, and made He made me whole.

2013 December 17 - Morning Manna

"The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army"(Ezekiel 37:1-10).

Today's Morsel: I heard on the news a few days ago that someone had found some dinosaur bones and that scientists may be able to take some DNA from those bones and clone a dinosaur.  Solomon said, "Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself." (Proverbs 18:1-2). When God sat Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones, He asked him if they could live.  But these bone  weren't just any bones, they were a representation of the nation of Israel.  In a sense, they could represent a dead church.  God doesn't want His people dead, dull, and boring.  He wants them to be alive.  They are to be a mighty force to be reckoned with.  Eagles soar!  Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life and that more abundantly." If you are born again, death has no dominion over you.  You are free to worship.  Free to shout. Free to jump.  You should be like the lame man at the Gate Beautiful.   This is one of the reasons apostolic churches are so lively, they have Holy Ghost life.  Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Sing:  I get joy when I think about what He's done for me! I get joy when I think about, what He's done for me! I get joy when I think about, what's he'd done for me, I get joy, joy, Joy!
God don't need no matches, He's fire all by Himself; God don't need no matches, He's fire all by Himself; God don't need no matches, He's fire all by Himself; I've got joy, joy, joy.

2013 December 16 - Morning Manna

As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:10)

Today's Morsel:  The story is told of a man who one day realized that he had done nothing good for his wife in a long time.  So to make up for his short coming, he decided to stop on the way home, buy her some flowers, her favorite candy and bring them to her.  When he got home, instead of coming though the backdoor and just setting the items on the table, he chose to ring the front door bell and surprise her when she opened the door.  When he rang the bell, she came to the door and just looked at him and said, "The washer is broke, the dishwasher isn't working, the vacuum stopped, and you come home drunk." (humor).
How many opportunities would you say that you have each day to do something good for others and you miss that opportunity?   There's an old saying that opportunity knocks once, and if you miss it, you may not get another chance.  Paul said, "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."  We should always look for opportunities where we can do good.  I believe that if we all would do this, it would make our homes, churches, schools, and communities a whole lot better.

Sing: I'm gonna lift up the name of Jesus! I'm gonna tell of my joy since He came. I'm gonna tell of His power every day and every hour, I'm gonna lift that wonderful name.

2013 December 14 - Morning Manna

"But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain"
(John 20:11-12).

Today's Morsel:   Sometimes when we look at a picture or at something, we may not see what others see at first. But when we look again, we may be able to see what they see or see something totally different.   Imagery can sometimes be hard to figure out. The Bible offers us allegory, examples, and parables to bring out a truth or major importance of a story.  At first, we can miss what is being spoken or shown.  But after a second look, we may be able to figure things out and gain understanding.  For example, my wife and I were once giving a lady a Bible study.  As we allowed her to read the scripture outlined in the study, all of a sudden she began to shout out, "I see it! I see it!"  I asked her, "What do you see?"  She said, "I see that Jesus is God!"  With tears and excitement of joy in her heart of this new found truth, she said to me, "I want to be baptized in Jesus name."  When Peter and John looked into the same tomb the same as Mary, they didn't see the two angels.  Even Mary didn't see them at first.  But when she stooped and looked again into the sepulchre, she saw them.  Elijah's servant didn't see the cloud at first either, but after several looks, he saw a cloud about the size of a man's hand.  And the prophet told him to go tell the king the rain is on its way (my wording).  Sometimes, it just may take a second look to find what you are looking for.  As my wife always says, "It'll be in the last place you look."

Sing:  On Calvary's hill of sorrow, where sin's demands were paid, and rays of hope for tomorrow across our paths were laid.

I see a crimson stream of blood, it flows from Calvary, its waves which reach the throne of God, are sweeping over me.

2013 December 13 - Morning Manna

My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes (Psalm 119:48).

Today’s Morsel:  The two huddle together, working line by line, bar by bar, composing the hymn, “Love lifted me.” The words were jotted down by James Rowe, and the music was hammered out at the piano by his friend, Howard E. Smith, whose hand were so twisted from arthritis that his friends wondered how he could play the piano at all.  But there they were, James pacing back and forth while Howard banged away the melody.  When they finished, the world had, “Love Lifted Me.”
The psalmist said, "My hand also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in the statutes."   When we lift our hands in praise and adoration to Jesus, there is a freedom of the surrendering of our will to His.  When we lift our hands it can serve for many purposes, but none like praise to Him.  With our hands lifted and our mouth filled with praise it releases a sweet smell to our Savior.  I don’t know about you, but with all my being I want to praise Him.  And if that means lifting up my hands, thus will I do, for He along is worthy of all praise.

Sing: I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore, very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more, but the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry, from the waters lifted me, now safe am I.

Chorus: Love lifted me! Love lifted me! When nothing else could help, Love lifted me; when nothing else could help Love, lifted, me.

2013 December 12 - Morning Manna

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. (John 14:1)

Today's Morsel: It seems that today, the medical and  research community is working overtime trying to find curse for so many health and illness problems.  One of the things they are trying to find a cure for is the troubled mind.  They are trying to determine what is causing so many people to make wrong decisions, suffering with low-self-esteem, stressed out, weariness, and depression.  God said that the reason many people suffer these things is because they've forsaken Him.  "For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water" (Jeremiah 2:13).  In other words, people have left the antidote for their troubled minds and everything else.  "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." (Isaiah 26:3).   If people will forgo some of the man-made ways, and return to the Word of God and live their lives according to it, they would see how quickly things could be mended.   I give this as my opinion, because it sure works for me.

Sing:  Who is this who comes with healing for the halt, the blind, the lame, saying softly to the sinner follow me.  Only come in faith believing as of old the people came, and the lame shall walk, the blind again shall see.
It is Jesus! Jesus! Sad one weep no more! He will heal the broken hearted, open wide the prison door, He is able to deliver evermore.

2013 December 11 - Morning Manna

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5:19-26)

Today's Morsel: How often do you find yourself operating in the flesh verses the Spirit?  Most of us allow the flesh to get the upper hand every now and then.  For example, we get angry when others don't agree with us.  We call people names like jerk, idiots, dumb, and stupid when they do things that we don't like.  We do things for our secular jobs but not for the church, knowing we may get fired if we don't, but for the church we just don't have time. These are all what I call flesh moments.  I too have those flesh moments when I just want to reach out and touch someone, but then I realize I'm not "Ma Bell."  Paul said that they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.  In other words, as Christians we should now be able to keep our flesh under control.   We should be able to bring our flesh into subjection to the obedience of Christ, so that we do not allow it to control us or our actions.  Therefore, we must live and walk in the spirit and not allow ourselves to be provoked by others. "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them" (Psalms 119:165).  If you are having too many flesh moments, check your dipstick, your Holy Ghost oil may be a little low.

Sing: Walk with me Lord, walk with me!  Walk with me Lord, walk with me!  While I'm on this, tedious journey, I want Jesus to walk with me.

2013 December 10 - Morning Manna

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12).

Today’s Morsel: Have you ever been on a journey and you said to yourself "I know that this is the right way," only to find out that you were heading in the wrong direction?  There are many roads that may lead to where you are heading but they may be filled with pitfalls and snares.  David asked the Lord, Shew me thou way, Lord teach me thou path (Psalms 25:3).  He knew that as long as God was leading and directing, then all would be okay.  Do you ask the Lord to show you the way?  Thomas did.  And Jesus told him, “I am the way” (John 14:6) and “Follow me” (Matthew 4:19). If we follow Jesus, we will always be in the right way even though it may seem to us that we are heading in the wrong direction.  His ways are not our ways, and neither is His thoughts our thought.  Jesus knows where the pitfalls and snares are located, so we must allow Him to lead us, because some ways may lead to eternal death.

Sing: God leads His dear children along. Some thru the water, some thru the flood, some thru the fire, but all thru the blood; some thru great sorrow, but God gives a song, in the night season, and all the day long.

2013 December 9 - Morning Manna

"And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints... And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS"   (Revelation 19:8;11-16)

Today's Morsel:  The Book of Revelations is a book of Prophecy.  It is a book of the past, the present, and the future.  It is a book of that which was, which is, and which is to come, The Almighty. It is a book which can cause you to rejoice, and one that can also make you fear and tremble.  It is a book that will make you examine yourself more closely, and cause you to search your heart more deeply.  It is a book that will make you think, and one that will cause you to wonder.  It is a book that will cause you to listen, and one that will cause you to sit up and take notice. It is called the Revelation of Jesus Christ.  In other words, it reveals and exposes Jesus in His Deity and His Glory.  The Book of Revelations rolls back the curtain and allows us to see the future of the saints and the destruction of the sinner.  John said that there is a rider upon a white horse and those that follow him are also on white horse, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  Fine linen if costly, pure and of the highest quality.  Righteousness, Godliness, and Justice cost you.  They require you to forsake all for Jesus.  The picture here is Jesus leading His mighty army.  He judges and makes war by one word, Righteousness.  "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous"(1 John 3:7).  If righteousness is the fine linen of the saints of God, what horse would you be riding upon should Jesus come today?

Sing:  I'll be riding with Him, when He comes back again, on that white horse He'll be riding and I'll be right behind Him; and I'll be riding with Him, when He comes back again, on that white horse He'll be riding, just look for me, and I be right behind Him.

2013 December 7 - Morning Manna

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly."
(Job 1:13-22)

Today's Morsel:   Today, December 7, marks 72 years ago that the Japanese Forces attacked the U.S. Forces on Pearl Harbor.  The surprise attack on the Island caused many lives to be lost and much destruction.  Today, many still visit the island and tour the battle sight.  President Truman said that the day would be a day that would live on in infamy.  In other words, this would be a day that would be seen as shameful and a criminal act of conduct and character; a publically known infamous act.

Job's attack by the enemy of his soul came as a complete surprise.  It took Job told by total surprise.  This attack on his life would become a day of infamy in the land of UZ.  Often around the globe and in the church, members are told of what Satan did to Job. Many are told of this public known infamous act by our ruthless enemy, Satan himself.  Jesus said that Satan has one purpose, and that is to steal, kill, and to destroy.  He has not stopped his surprise attacks against the church and saints of God.  The attack on Pearl Harbor placed the U.S. military on alert to always be watchful and vigilant against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.  The same must be true for the child of God.  We must always be watchful and alert to the enemy of our souls.  Job's story isn't just a story of how he overcome, it is a story for the child of God to be watchful and vigilant.  "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world" (1 Peter 5:8-9).

Sing: Satan's like a roaring lion, walking to and fro, seeking whom he may devour the Bible tells me so. Many souls have been his prey to fall in some weak hour, but God has promised us today, His overcoming power.
Greater is He that is in me!  Greater is He that is in me! Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

2013 December 6 - Morning Manna

Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place. So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading. And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law. Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:7-10)

Today's Morsel:  I often hear people say that they have no strength or they ask me to pray for their strength in the Lord. When asked why, they say, I'm not sure. It just seems to take all their energy and effort for them to get going.  So many people seem to be weak in their walk and relationship with God.  Many seem to have trouble getting to church and maintaining their relationship with God. How did so many with the Holy Ghost lose their power and vigor to be excited and keep going in times of adversity. Solomon said that if we faint in the day of adversity, then our strength is small. When Nehemiah and the helpers finished the wall, he told them that the joy of the Lord was their strength. The call was for the children of God  was to rejoice at all times. Isaiah said that God has given us a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:3).  If we will get into the habit of praising God at all times, we will maintain our strength and ability to keep running the race even in adversity.

Sing: He gives strength to me, as I worship Him, as my heart is filled with praise, Jesus breaks the bands, as I raise my hands, He gives glorious victory.

2013 December 5 - Morning Manna

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in all Achaia: Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. (2 Corinthians 1:1-6).

Today's Morsel:   One of the things the Holy Ghost is called, is the comforter.  Why does God give us the Holy Ghost?  Is it so that we can speak in tongues?  Is it so we can know that we now have salvation?  Is it so we can boast of His love and power within us?  Jesus often told His disciples, I have given you an example.  The Holy Ghost in you makes you an example before others of how a person should live and be.  True leaders always set good examples for others to emulate.  Paul said,  "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."  Notice, God comforteth us so that we can comfort others.  If you are one of those who always walk away when others are in need, you are not helping to comfort.  I didn't say when they are in want, but in need.  When people are suffering, they need a comforter.  When people have been rejected, they need a comforter.  When we realize all the things that God does for us, and all the examples He has left for us, we should be able to take those same examples and comfort other.

Sing:  The Comforter has come! The Comforter has come, the Comforter has come! The Holy Ghost from heaven, the Father's promise given; O spread the tidings round, wherever man is found- the Comforter has come!

2013 December 4 - Morning Manna

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. (Job 1:13-22)

Today's Morsel:  Probably one of the most gut wrenching feelings one can have is the unexpected loss of a loved one or friend.  That unexpected news of a death  and loss often takes us by surprise and seems to rock our faith foundation.  The why questions begin to invade our minds.  We seem to hit a low point in our lives and some people even have troubles trying to get back to the top of the mountain.  How can one pull themselves through this darkness of night and get themselves back to the light of day?  Prayer can help us. True friends can be a comfort to us.  But I believe that if we have and maintain a strong relationship with Jesus at all times, He will give us the strength and power to overcome and to raise us up during any unforeseen mishaps. There are many things we can do while we are still in our right minds. We can talk about these things. We can do as Job and keep our loved ones before the Lord in prayer.  We can look and keep in our hearts all the good qualities and things that others do and have done.  The quickest way to get back to the light, is to worship even in our loss.

Sing:  Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little to ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong. Yes, Jesus, loves me; yes, Jesus loves me; Yes, Jesus, loves me; for the Bible tells me so.

2013 December 3 - Morning Manna

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. (1 John 5:14-16)

Today's Morsel: Probably one of my most favorite passages of scriptures is Hebrews 10:35-39. Verse 35 begins by saying, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward"(Hebrews 10:35).   We must not lose our own self assurance or a belief in your ability to succeed.  John said this is the confidence that we have in Jesus, that if we ask any thing according to His will, He hears us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.  We must not stop trusting in God, just because He doesn't answer every time we pray or ask Him to do something for us.  If we would get to the point in our walk that we realize the just must live and walk by their faith, we wouldn't lose our confidence when things don't happen on our timeline.  Paul told the church at Philippi, "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:3-6).  Paul said that he had the faith to believe and to know that what God started in them, He would fulfill.  If we know that all things work together to them that love the Lord (Romans 8:28), shouldn't we also be confident that He will hear our prayers?

Sing:  Faith can move mountains, mountains of fear and of doubt, faith can move mountains, so why don't you try your faith out.

2013 December 2 - Morning Manna

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.   (John 14:6)

Today's Morsel: What is there about life that most people aren't concerned with it until they reach an age where they can't seem to get out of bed, their joints begin to hurt, their vision becomes blurred, or someone hands them a birthday card that says, "Over the Hill." It is at these points that we begin to consider life.  When Moses began to rehearse with the children of Israel the things that God had done for them, he told them, "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them" (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). He told them to choose life; to choose the Lord because  He was their life.  Have you met life?  If so, then why not introduce Him to someone else today because He wants to be their life, too.  When we have met life, we don't have to worry about this life.

Sing:  I found a new way of living, I found a new life divine, I have the fruit of the spirit, I am abiding, abiding in the vine.  Abiding in the vine, abiding in the vine, love, joy, health, strength He has made them mine. I have prosperity, power, and victory, abiding, abiding in the vine.
