Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 May 27

Are You Going To Stay Down or Get Back Up?

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.” (Micah 7:8)

Today’s Morsel: In boxing, your opponents’ goal is to hit you hard enough that he can knock you down, and then that the referee can count to ten before you able to get up, and you will lose the bout. So, what are you going to do when Satan hits you with a blow that knocks you down and it takes the wind out of you? Are you going to stay down, and say, I’ve had enough. Or are you going to get up and fight again? Micah told his enemy not to rejoice over him when he fell as he will arise again. Solomon said, “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again…” (Proverbs 24:16) The choice to remain down is up to you. You can stay down when you fall and make a mistake, and allow the adversary to tease and torment you, and he becomes the bully on the playground, or you can get up and fight him again. Anytime the enemy knocks you down, you must know that Jesus will not allow you to remain down if you want to get back up. He will strengthen you if you worship Him. As He told Peter, “And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.” (Luke 22:31-32) No matter how many times you find yourself feeling like you have been knocked down, get up. Because each time you get up, it increases your faith to win, and it will encourage others to get up, too.

Sing: There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb. There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb.

Thought For Today: “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.” (Isaiah 60:1)
