Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 February 1

Unchangeable Love

“Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.” (John 13:1)

Today’s Morsel: The month of February seems to focus on love. But shouldn’t every month focus on love since God is love? Moses told the children of Israel, “The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.” (Deuteronomy 7:7-8) God’s love is unchanging. It is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Scripture said that He loved them unto the end of His life. WOW! But what about our love towards Him? Is it conditional or is it consistent? Do we only love Christ when things are going well for us, and then when it isn’t we don’t? When we tell Jesus that we love Him we had better mean it, as there is going to come a time that the world and your situations and circumstance are going to put you to the test. Just ask the apostles of Jesus. And the same holds true with us in our relationships with others. There will come a time that our love will be tested. And when it is, will your words to found true, or will you be found lacking?  Our love needs to be consistent and constant.

Sing: He knew me, yet He loved me. He whose glory makes the heavens shine. I’m so unworthy, of such mercy; yet when He was on the cross, I was on His mind.

Thought For Today: Don’t ever tell someone that you love them if you do not mean it.
