Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2024 February 12

What’s Love Got To Do With It?

These things I command you, that ye love one another.” (John 15:17)

Today’s Morsel: The late Tina Turner sang a song titled, “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” You see, back in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, most of the black music artist that sang for Motown and other record companies came out of the church and church choirs. And so, they would have heard a lot of preaching and singing about God’s love and His salvation. But sad to say, many of them took their talents and abilities into the world, and their downfall quickly followed.

So, what does love got to do with you and me?  First of all, Jesus commanded us that we must love one another. True love will change a person’s heart. But again, sad to say, folks just will not listen and obey. If we all would love each other the way that Christ loved us, there would be no wars nor rumors of wars. There would be no divorce. There would be not gossip and backbiting. There would be no prejudice against people. There would be no lying, cheating, and stealing. There would be no hate crimes. There would be no need to lock your doors or homes. But when we don’t love the way that Jesus tells us to love, then the opposite happens every time.  Remember, love is not about someone else, it’s about you and your relationship with Jesus which will produce a love for others.  So, what’s love got to with it?  Everything.

Sing: I love my Savior, He loves me, too; I seek His favor in everything I do.

Thought For Today: The greatest thing in all my life is knowing love.  Which is God.
