Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2023 March 1

Continuous Praise

“And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of shittim wood shalt thou make it. A cubit shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof; foursquare shall it be: and two cubits shall be the height thereof: the horns thereof shall be of the same. And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about. And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it, by the two corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make it; and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal. And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold. And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee. And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it. And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.” (Exodus 30:1-8)

Today’s Morsel: When we view the instructions given to Moses by God, it is often stated, “It shall be perpetual or continuous throughout your generations.” In other words, when God instructs us through His word, it isn’t just for the moment, it is something that must be continuous or perpetual throughout our generations as well.  Praying, reading your Bible, church attendance, giving, loving God and others, living holy, having compassion, witnessing, having respect for yourself and others, and serving others must be continuous. Paul told the church at Ephesus: “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.” (Ephesians 5:1-4) Notice, follow the example of Christ and don’t let fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness be named among you as a saint. These things must be perpetual throughout your lifetime. And might I add that we should be handing down the standard to our children and our children’s children.  Moses was told that Aaron must light the lamps at evening, and that he should burn incense upon it, as a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout their generations. Continuous. You are the Temple of the Holy Ghost. Therefore, you must never let the lamp go out, nor your sweet incense of praise to God cease from your lips. If you want something to be a habit, do it even when you don’t feel like it.  Let your praise be continuous.

Sing: I’m gonna praise the Lord anyway that I can; I’m gonna praise the Lord anyway that I can. I’m gonna praise Him in the morning, praise Him all day long.  I’m gonna praise the Lord anyway that I can.
