Silent Killers
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalms 51:1-10)
Today’s Morsel: In life, we continue to hear about silent killers. Things such as cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, glaucoma, and osteoporosis. Out of these, heart disease is classified as the number one silent killer, followed by cancer being the second. The Bible speaks so often to us about guarding and keeping our hearts. We must rid of our mind and intellect of anything that can destroy us. We may not think that reading certain books, listening to certain music, or watching certain television programs or movies will affect us. But ask yourself, where do most of the vile and defamation language spoken by those in the world come from? It comes from television and worldly music. You must guard your mind. Secular music, and even some Christian music and artists, must be carefully filtered as they can be a silent killers if one is not careful. David prayed for the Lord to create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. We must guard our heart, or it can become damaged and kill our spiritual walk and relationship with Christ. Do you start your day by praying and asking God to guard your heart, your spouse’s heart, and your children’s hearts and minds? Confusion in the mind can cause confusion in life and can cause wrong decision making. When is the last time you’ve had a heart check-up? Right now, might be a good time for you to filter it through the word of God and check to ensure it is still pure, clean, and functioning righteously.
Sing: Search me, O God, and know my heart today. Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray. See if there be some wicked way in me. Cleanse me from every sin and set me free.
Ty for this!
