Break Those Bad Habits
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-12)
Today’s Morsel: One of the things about bad habits is they will keep popping up until you make up your mind to rid yourself of them and stop doing them. One of the reasons that God gives us the Holy Ghost is so that we will have the power and the ability to stop doing wrong things and break bad habits. Smoking is classified as a bad habit because it has been proven to cause cancer. Drinking alcohol is classified as a bad habit because it has been proven to cause impaired vision while driving and cirrhosis of the liver. Lying, cheating, and stealing are all classified as bad habits because they destroy one’s character. If a child has bad habits, then ask yourself if you have spared the rod. As Solomon states: “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” (Proverbs 22:15) Just know the difference between a spanking and abuse. You spank with love; you punish with abuse. The apostle Paul lets us know that if we plan to go to heaven, then we must break bad habits in our lives. He stated: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-12) You should not have any bad habits in your life as a Christian.
Sing: Well, I’ve been changed, I am newborn now, all my sins has been rearranged. What a difference He made when the Lord came to stay, in my heart, O’ yes, I’ve been changed.
