Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2023 March 9

The Body

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:11-16)

Today’s Morsel: Where do you fit into the body of Christ? What roll do you play in completing the body of Christ? Are you the pinky finger, big toe, nose, eyes, ears, mouth, foot, just what part are you in making the body complete? If we are not careful, we can think that we do not have a part in the body of Christ because we are not occupying a pulpit, leading worship, teaching Sunday school, ushering, or greeting. But really, you do have a part in make the body whole and complete. And that part is edifying of itself (the body) in love. Loving one another. When you show that you love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and your neighbor as yourself, you are helping to complete the body and keep it whole. When you show compassion, bring a smile to someone’s face, and help spread the gospel to the whole world, you are helping to keep the body edified in love. Always remember, attitude is small, but it makes a big difference.

Sing: This little light on mine, I’m gonna let it shine.  This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.  This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine; let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine.  Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine.  Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine.  Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
